Clemson would be the 3rd seed.
Utah would be the 4th seed and get the first round bye.

correct. I was iffy on the thing expanding all the way to 12

but after seeing how all these players opt out of the non-cfp games I think expanding to 12 or more is the only way to get them to want to play in these bowl games. Otherwise the non-cfp bowl games become a glorified practice for the backups to play.

Ask a Gamecock fan how they feel about opt-outs. They have more experience.
Murphy is our first ever. I think the gamecocks have had at least 1 for several years now. Probably before Deebo, but he's the first that comes to mind.

That won't change concerning the non-CFP bowl games . . .

that problem will actually increase for the non-CFP bowl games. Of course, there will be less non-cfp bowl games since the CFP is expanding - but for the ones that remain - the problem will be as bad as ever. It will either kill those games, or heavily dilute them, or, it will lead to more expansion so that the entire (or virtually the entire) bowl landscape - or at least a larger portion of it, is subsumed into the playoff.
Many said this wouldn't hurt the bowl system, that the bowl system and the playoff would co-exist nicely - but that was always a temporary way-station.

If we had played Cade earlier, we would be in.
