Head Coaches for the price of one on our baseball team. Bakich and Legget have been a GREAT combo this year.

I think getting Leggett back is reconnecting with our past. I think he has already helped with recruiting by reconnecting with HS coaches from the past, and he seems to love being back in the dugout. Bakich has done so many great things for Clemson already, but resurrecting Leggett is among the most important.

You're entitled to your opinion but I don't think so. Players play so much looser than when he was coach.

I think it's not so much in game, but I would think that having JL in the room for pre scouting is huge. The experience to scheme and approach is where I think you are seeing the gains.

But I came to the conclusion that the difference between this season and Jack's last years as HC is that there is no pressure on him now.
We absolutely should have won the 2010 World Series. Jack knew it too. Ray Tanner's team pulled a horse shoe out of you know where to beat us twice and Jack was never the same again. Now he is free to build relationships and share tons of baseball knowledge without having to attend a single press conference to explain what just happened out there.
It's a good situation.

There is also the minor difference that Bakich, a proven head coach, has been given the budget to hire elite level assistants and has a HOFer as an advisor. In Leggett’s final years he was given a budget of less than half of what our rivals were spending on assistants. We were being outspent dramatically by mid-tier teams like Kentucky. In 2010, after making a CWS, Leggett lost a pitching coach to Alabama for $100k but Clemson wouldn’t match.

I was only responding to the comment about Jack and how his teams played so tight post 2010.
Many positive changes have come to the program. I've been told that a group of former players who have done well and become major IPTAY donors were instrumental in pushing the AD to prioritize baseball. That appears to be true.

Agree - the best of both worlds. Bakich is clearly in charge

and breathes new life and direction into the program, but happens to have a great assistant who not only brings almost unparalleled knowledge and experience, but also brings that connection to Clemson's past success like no one else can. It is a uniquely advantageous situation for Clemson baseball.

Almost all coaches who are perceived as great tend to have great assistants. Dabo needed great assistants to get to the elite level. He needs them to get there again. Like Jack, both are/were able to perform at a high level with lesser or transitional assistants. There were only like 5-6 programs that made the NCAA tourney every year from 2010-2015. Jack was handcuffed as to who he could hire in last 6 seasons. As stated above, we lost our pitching coach to Alabama in 2010 (a year we made the CWS) because we wouldn’t match $100,000. By 2015 we were paying our pitching coach almost half of what Kentucky was paying a still unproven Jimmy Belanger.
