NIL. This has got to be brought under control. Like him

or not, Lane Kiffin has suggested the best solution. Firstly, most coaches, including Dabo, agree that players need to get more than they presently get (legally). I’m an old coot and sent my three children through college. Tuition is just one of the major expenses. If you live in a dorm, you pay dorm fee. If you eat in the cafeteria you pay for that. Don’t get me started on how much text books cost (I wish 60 Minutes would do a documentary on that alone). That being said, I always thought a full scholarship was a pretty good deal. I do recall that back in my day the football players were given $25 laundry money...seriously. That would probably equate to $200-250 today.

Finally! Lane says that we need to put a cap on annual NIL. He did not specifically mention Tex A&M, but it was obvious who he was referring to. A&M spent the equivalent of $1mm for each signee. He also cited a great example saying this is why the NFL has a salary cap. Otherwise Dallas, and a couple of other teams would continually dominate.

Sorry for being so long. Does this make sense?

Yes it makes perfect sense and a cap is the only solution.

Had to know the coot comment was coming, Tigernet love ?? just for you!

Cap is a great idea but then they put themselves in control of payments in a way which they said they were avoiding.

I don't think a NIL salary cap will pass muster with the SCOTUS. That would be akin to a University telling all students, they can only earn a maximum amt. at any endeavor they may be involved in as a student. It's possible that if that cap was made a part of receiving a scholly, it would pass muster. But it would have to apply to all students. And all Universities would have to adopt.

The NFL can get away with with salary caps and other rules requiring players drafted by them to either sign to play for the team that drafted them or not play unless released by the team that drafted them. They can get away with it because the SCOTUS has given them and the NBA, and the AL/NL baseball teams special status exempting them from certain labor laws. Not sure college FB
teams would enjoy those same exemptions. Probably need to be implemented and let them be challenged in court.

I think there is a way to do it. Some ambulance chaser could figure it out.
