always said his recruitment included several “non negotiables.” He did not list all but two that he did mention were “family atmosphere and player development.” Maybe that is why we made his top five finalist. I said to many of my friends, including #####, DAWGS, etc. that I am convinced that one of his “non negotiables” and undoubtedly the number one was $$$$. Not trying to appear to be wearing orange colored glasses, but your final five are Ohio State, Clemson, Tennessee, LSU, and SC. Tell me which one of those five have the least chance of becoming a prominent football power. Again, congrats to the #####. They out bid the rest.

Whining and claiming they bought him is a bad look for you. Maybe he wanted an urban environment or really connected with their staff. Regardless, take the high road for a change

Someone ought to ask Mr Gray: What happened to SC rFR OT Kam Pringle?

Many of us remember big time OL signee from the S.Carolina 2024 signing class - Kam Pringle.

He was a low country SC guy. 4* OT recruit. 6’ 8” and ~ 320 lb.

S.Carolina developed Kam Pringle during his redshirt FR year in Columbia.

At least, developed his eating habits. He ‘grew’ into his role (or should I say ‘roll’ as in dinner roll).

Transferred to Syracuse where his weight (according to Phil Steele’s magazine) of somewhere in the 360 to 380 lb range.

Low-country born and Beamer bread … ooops, I meant ‘bred’ Kam Pringle may not be able to move mountains, but who cares? He has become a mountain. Mount Fatty.

Darius Gray has some Gamecock-esque development to look forward to.

Ooops.

He didn’t get that fat.

He did, however, bolt S.Carolina for that college FB power in the heart of big time college FB … Syracuse in upstate NY. Almost forgot, the weather is fantastic (if you’re a penguin).

All of that still beats He77’s armpit, fire ant capital of the world, Columbia SC.

I wish the kid the best, and wish he chose us, but we're good with who we landed. I remember the "awesome" OL classes they thought they "stole" from us over the last few years (Franks, Thompson, Anderson, etc) but that was likely a blessing in disguise.

Losing them made room for the players we're getting now.

Thompson is legit. Too much natural ability for Beamer’s bunch to screw up.

Franks? Anderson? Despite having an overall putrid OL (Superman L.Sellers covered for S.Carolina’s awful OL), neither Franks nor Anderson are thought of as being stars on this year’s Gamecrook OL, despite the God given talent for both these guys.

Will Gray’s prodigious natural abilities allow him to overcome the lousy OL coaching that he’ll get in He77’s armpit?

In 15 years Darius Gray may look back and realize he needed to be in a culture like Dabo’s where they focus on not only developing their football skills but their ability to develop from a kid to a man of character and maturity. A good citizen and good human being.

He may be a star in HS and in college but will that translate into success in the NFL. Maybe he should read the biggest bust list in the NFL.

Its pretty obvious SC has more money to spend on recruiting than we do. There's no other explanation why they would be outrecruiting us when we are superior to them in every other category. Can't really blame players for cashing in but thats the only reason a player with options would sign at one of the losingest programs in college football history over us or any of the other finalists on this and many of their other signees lists.

I read that after he committed he said it was because of the family atmosphere in Columbia and how it was like gamecocks nation was one big family and the coaches and staff treated him better than any other school recruiting him. He must have not been there during a game they lost and encountered the drunk fans afterwards 😂

Wasn't he looking for a school with Sports Communications program or something like that? While Clemson offers this, I imagine with the long history USC has in journalism, their program is more established than ours. This is the only reason I can see this kid choosing USC over Clemson.

^^^^^^ ding ding ding - we have a winner! ^^^^^^

He might have won a place in the depth chart above the other OT commitments we have for 2026. Or maybe not. Clemson has several high near-term upside OT commitments, and the super tall recruit from KS that is one of those longer term prospects (I.e., not as physically developed yet [some kids end up taking a couple of more years to finish their naturally occurring physical maturity] who may or may not develop into a special OT).

Of course we’d have been happy had he chosen us, but a glimpse of our OL commitments would have given any additional OL prospect a moment or two of circumspection. Or circumcision.

$$$$$$$$ was exactly what Darius Gray was after the other was early playing time to secure NIL deals. Again that involves money $$$$$

When I coached Baseball every game some parent had the strong opinion their kid should play this position. We are talking about 10 year old kids.

If a put a kid at 3rd base and he gets hit in the face by a line drive because he cannot catch. The parent is going to blame me for not developing that kid.

I believe we should go back to cutting kids keeping your best players. Not everyone is cut out for sports but they excel in music. Some of those kids do not even want to be out there.

I don’t mean to step on any parents toes but to many parents create chaos during the games. My daughter and I coach a soccer team of 10 year old girls. We ask the girls what their number one goal was ?? Everyone of them said they wish their parents would not come to the games because they were constantly trying yell at them during them game. One mother came over and lit into her daughter maker her cry.

That was our last year coaching any sport. There are some good parents out there. As much as I loved my Dad I did like it when he came to my games. I could get 2 hits, steal a base and play good defense. But my Dad always had constructive criticism for me after the game. That affects a kids confidence. I can say he let the coaches do their job.

Back to Darius. I can see that his parents and maybe other relatives were always a coaches problem. I feel sure the he had a calculator during his recruiting. The coots and Beamer are willing to buy a recruit with no regrets. They want to be like Clemson so bad they are willing to do about anything. Now the new rules have opened those doors.

I will take a Dabo coached team over any other team or HC 🐅🐅🤗🤗.
