If the clock has to be stopped for an injury, that player should stay out for the remainder of that quarter. If a real injury, they don't need to be in the game anyway.

I had this knee jerk thought too but I feel that would be extreme - similar to the targeting rule ejections.

Maybe we could instead aim for the remainder of the drive.

The player should be evaluated my trainers/medical staff before he's allowed to return to the field, especially if play is stopped & is assisted off the field by trainers/staff.
