Anyone else confused why the ACC would put their two best teams heading into next season on a Friday night?

conference and avoiding going head to head with real conferences for TV viewers on a Friday is all he's got. Hoping he can claim 'biggest regular season Friday night NCAA game' of the season for us.

I think the ACC playing Friday night games was something Swofford negotiated prior to his retirement because...well...he was an idiot! That buffoon couldn't negotiate his way out of his own driveway with two hands, a map, a compass, and a GPS device.

Ok, so play Wake @ UVA or some other meaningless game on Friday. Not one of the top marquee matchups of the entire league season.

I just think the ACC has no friggin' clue how to take care of its major football brands which explains, at least in part, why FSU and Clemson are trying to get out. Other than the kickoff games around Labor Day weekend, no other major college football teams are playing on Friday nights during the regular season. Scheduling one of the leagues marquee games (Clemson v. Louisville), a game that could very well have ACCCG and CFP implications, on a Friday night is asinine IMO.

than the ACC. The old Big East does come close. Boneheaded scheduling and alignments over decades now has slowly but surely put us in this sub-premium position. From Swofford to Phillips - a sad failure to grasp what drives the boat and lack of stones to push forward solutions that would be upsetting to some members, but critical for everyone's long-term success together. No foresight - only gimmicks that don't align with the casual football fan's desires. Maddening, and showing zero signs today of shaking off the status quo.

ESPN runs the show. No other games to compete with.

Yeah, it’s pretty strange that the ACC scheduled such an important game on a Friday night.

The loser of that game could get the #2 spot in the standings, and then okay play against the #3 team for the championship.
Yeah.

Devil's advocate.
Can they project what the ratings will look like versus the ratings the same game played on a Saturday ?
If they can , it's possible all eyes on the Friday matchup could be viewed as a boost to the ACC provided its an exciting game.
It will be exciting. So there's that

That was my thought...will this actually generate a bigger rating than a saturday matchup? Im going to say yes it would...unless the game on saturday turned in a 4th quarter battle with both of us being the top 10...then all eyes tune in.

I dunno...does it mean you won't watch? More often than not the games I actually miss watching are Saturday noon or afternoon kick-offs because I am a busy guy and often need those day light hours to get work done. I'll take an evening game on Friday. Does not hurt me a bit.

ESPN is competing with FOX which has a Big 10 game on Friday nights now. We will not be the only game on.
