Clemson Playoff Path

I do actually believe there is a path for Clemson for get to the CFP. Let’s assume Georgia and Ohio State win out. Tennessee and Michigan are 11-1. TCU is expected to finish 10-2, per FPI, which would knock out the Big 12. What we need most, aside from winning out, is for the PAC-12 to eliminate itself with Oregon, USC and UCLA. Then it would be down to Clemson (12-1), Michigan and Tennessee for the final two spots. I think Tennessee would def be in, but I find it hard to imagine Michigan over Clemson when comparing the resume and conference champ status. First and foremost though, take care of business against Louisville

I definitely believe it can happen....Clemson very well could get in the playoffs....but I don't want them to.
If this scenario plays out.

Clemson doesn’t deserve to go to the playoffs.

All season long after abysmal performances (some that we were lucky to win) we convinced ourselves that “they’re holding back for championship season!” Now that championship season is upon us they played their worst game in a decade. How do we explain it now? It’s simple, we’re just not that good.
This team (with the current personnel) isn’t playoff worthy.

We would be worthy if we won out and were sitting there at 12-1, conference champs, and several ranked wins under our belt.
Only loss being to a ranked team on the road.

No, I don’t. But they are going to pick the four most DESERVING teams. If it shakes out how I said they will absolutely be considering Clemson, a team at 12-1 with a likely four ranked wins (FSU, NCST, UNC, WF) and a conference champ. Personally I would like us to NOT go to the playoff cause we’d get destroyed right now. But that doesn’t change how they’ll evaluate

I don't think so. First we have to win out. I think North Carolina will score a ton on our secondary . This program has fallen. U have to be hard core to stay elite. We need outside help to get back there. Will Dabo stay the ship or get a big-time OV,?

That is a very optimistic view but not a very realistic one. I'm not sure making the playoffs and then getting beaten like a drum like we did in the last 2 playoffs is really good for us. We'd probably be better off winning out and beating an ALA, TN, or LSU in the Orange Bowl than losing big in the semi-finals of the playoffs.
Unfortunately, based on what I've seen in the last 2 games, I don't think either scenario is likely to come to fruition.

Agreed. I don't think we'll win out but if we did it's likely IMO we'd get in.
If you assume UGA, Ohio St., and even TCU go undefeated (I don't think they will) you'd have:
12-1 ACC Champ Clemson
12-1 Pac 12 Champ (most likely Oregon)
11-1 Tennessee
11-1 Michigan
The committee has already shown they favor our resume over Michigan's.
It would come down to how much stock the committee puts in a conference title and how they view the ACC vs. the PAC 12.
Now if one or two of these teams lose a game they shouldn't which is very possible, Clemson could be a lock.
Again, that's assuming we win out ourselves which is probably not going to happen.

We arent going to the playoffs, nor should we. At this point there is no reason whatsoever to think we are going to win out and, even if we did, that blowout beatdown on national TV will haunt us for the rest of the season. Alabama with two close respectable losses would get in ahead of us and they probably should since they would beat us by multiple scores.

I do not want to see this team destroyed in the playoffs. Let's shoot for a decent New Year's bowl game and rebuild for next year.
