Clemson Memorial Stadium is one of the iconic venues in all

of college football. A big part of it reaching this status over time was the famed "Hill" and what it contributed to the tremendous atmosphere and experience.
Simply put The Hill, over the last several years, has been RUINED it seems. As a direct result, the Clemson gameday experience in terms of atmosphere, aesthetics, and Crowd Noise it not what it was. Not what it was even in the leaner Bowden years.
Why has this been allowed to happen? I think recall members of the Board saying to Administration get the hill fixed. Is my recollection inaccurate. If I am remembering right, why has there been no follow-up related to this; as The Hill is clearly not "Fixed". In fact it may be worse.
As a long-time Clemson fan who takes pride in both our football program's success as well as, WHAT WAS, an elite gameday experience and an atmosphere second to none, I find this matter to be very frustrating and rather depressing.
Do any others on here feel the same way? Why can't The Hill be Fixed?!

YES! I just posted about this earlier today. DHood needs to ask the tough questions and help get something done about it. It's a complete joke with the southside at 75% and the northside at 25% capacity when the team runs down the hill. With the balloons gone it just draws even more attention to it. I've only been to one home game this year and the atmosphere was terrible.

the atmospheres has rapidly declined in the last 4 or 5.
it isn't the hill.. It is a new generation of donors. My son was asking me about it as we were leaving the stadium Saturday. He's 18 now and has been going to Clemson games since he was 9 month old. He even noticed it.
I told him the same i will tell you. I don't know.. Maybe Clemson winning is the reason. IN the past the fans felt like they had to be loud in order to try to get a win. It was loud all day.. not just 10 seconds before 3rd down. didn't matter if it was noon, 330 or midnight.
Now they just sit in the stands and expect a win.
These 4 min TV time outs every 7 mins don't help either.

So I have a fix. All freshman and sophomores only get tickets for the hill. That would fill it and also open up tickets for sale. When I was a freshman I sat on the hill every game and loved it.

I like your idea... unfortunately your idea just makes too much sense for the administration to understand. The freshmen and sophomores all want to go to the games but can't because there are not enough tickets. This would kill 2 birds with one stone... the hill would be full and the students would have more tickets to go around. And bring back the balloons!!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately DRad says the hill has a capacity set by the Fire Marshal and can only be entered on one side at a certain time thus creating an empty hill. Dabo says it's not in his lane to speak about it. The students are saying they can't access the hill and many can't even get tickets. There's a bunch of finger pointing and not much of an outcry to get it fixed. Our traditions are being ripped away right in front of our eyes. No balloons, no gathering at the paw or field entry when other schools are rushing the field each weekend. Tailgating is down every bit of 40-50% from what I've seen. Stadium crowd cheers are nonexistent. Best is the Standard!!!

If it's a fire marshal problem then fix the problem. Either open up the area where the fans can exit, or let them exit on the field. And bring back the gathering at the PAW. Don't destroy all of the Clemson traditions... enhance them.

Please do your research prior to posting. Firstly, this is an OLD, OLD topic and previously discussed ad nauseam; secondly, do you keep up with stadium improvement plans (recently approved by the BOT 7/15/21)? Much of the current "hill" will disappear under new bleachers. What's left will surely be filled by rabid freshpersons in coming years. Or, maybe, you can convince the ticket office to start offering those tickets to you and like-minded ticket purchasers.
Given that, would you not think that some of the decrease in vocal support at the games must come from a fan base that has become jaded. Despite buying tickets, many Clemson "fans" come and sit on their hands, yell at their seat neighbors when they stand and cheer, and complain that nobody on the football staff knows anything about how to call a game.
And most of us leave the stadium by the half in order to continue the tailgating and drinking. For many, the game is incidental to their pleasure.

Those new bleachers on the hill side have been cancelled for the foreseeable future.

There is certainly no lack of fans enthusiasm in the section where I have sat for years! My ears are ringing by halftime.
The hill appears to have a lot of young fans at every game. We all miss the balloons but that likely will not return.
I’ve been to many more than a hundred games in my sixty plus years as a student/fan but the BC game this season ranks right up there with the best.
NO ONE equals Clemson in atmosphere at game time. The most disturbing thing is seeing the students exiting at half time for other ‘adventures’. Shameful!

Good, glad it was canceled. Those curved bleachers in the top corners on each side of the scoreboard looks terrible. Reminds me of the Liberty Bowl or that fugly curved upper deck with the corners cut off that Louisville built in the end zone.

What is the seating capacity of each side of the Hill? How much room must there be for each person? Or this just some figure reached by an authoritarian figure so that the Hill will not appear full? I have been on the Hill many times through out the 70's. It is a standing room only area and thus does not apply to the normal seating parameters. These same rules would have limited Woodstock to 250,000 or less. Someone in the graphic art dept. should take the number of people allowed on the Hill and make a diagram of how the Hill would look if everyone that could be there was on the Hill, equidistant apart.
