I said this before the SMU game and it’s the reason I liked us a lot in it. We haven’t used the portal and depended on being a developmental program and learning from our losses. We’ve had the opportunity to lose 3 games to 3 good teams and make adjustments based on the results. We played an elite UGA, adjusted and went on a dominant run until we ran into Louisville. Lost to them in a complacent effort, used that film to clean things up. Ran into a hot USuck team and should’ve won, but got film on how to win that type of game.
We have had the opportunity to lose 3 games, learn, get film and get better. That’s why we beat SMU. I think we see even more improvement vs Texas. Getting film in failures and still being able to play meaningful games is new territory and we are capitalizing on it. Call me crazy but I think we beat Texas, we are growing and have more negative film to correct (and have) than anyone. I love our chances.

Also, we didn’t learn to block people on FG attempts; we just waited for Woods to get back on the field. Apparently a DL is the only person that has been “developed” to block.

Yes, BV rarely only rushed 3. You have got to be able to affect the QB by sacking him, causing him to move his feet and get out of his comfort zone, and taking his eyes off his receiver and downfield. Jennings threw 2 perfect passes in the corner of the endzone that he could not throw if he was on the run. One of the biggest disappointments in Wes to me is his inability to get a pass rush on the QB and make the QB uncomfortable. Hopefully we learned as you say as SMU went down the field and scored 17 points in the 4Th quarter doing this. We went after the QB in the first quarter and created two turnovers in the first half that led to points. If it worked early why not late.$$$

Prevent D had nothing to do with the comeback. Inept offense and injuries at RB were the reason they came back. The D was on the field entirely to long.

Except that they weren’t. Our time of possession was almost 2 minutes more than SMU in the second half. O had staked them to a 17 pt lead going into the 4th Qtr. and had ZERO turnovers. That was a almost complete Defensive collapse.

Yes our defense was not put in the proper position by the DC using a 3 man rush. We never got to the QB in the 4 th quarter. Wes needs to scrap the 3 man rush except on a rare occasion.

Bro, we have common opponent film and have film on every style of team we could play, I love our chances, this is uncharted territory for teams. Being able to lose 3 games, with the caliber of talent we have (top 5 composite talent roster) and able to get film and learn from it. I love our chances.

This will need to be a game like we played against Bama winning the second Natty. I was there and I have never seen our team more focused and in being in the right position. I’m not real high on Wes but he has a chance to redeem himself.

Screw that, use Cade as our run game and slang it. Trust our all world freshmen and live and die by them. I know Texas has the Thorpe winner and a great secondary but this is our strength and has been all year. Keep them honest running Cade and throw it all over the yard.

This post is borderline delusional. Trucked by a up and down and definitely not elite uga team. Absolutely cracked by a very average Louisville team - we literally had no answers despite two weeks to prepare, then got humiliated, at home to be very mid usuc squad that runs the most highschool joke offense ive ever seen. We didnt clean up anything. Lost to every single team with a vague pulse in the regular season. SMU was a great win, but lets not act like that was a clean dominate effort. If that game goes to ot, do we win? I doubt it.

If if was a fifth we’d all be drunk. We beat an elite SMU team. Elite. I doubt we beat Texas but don’t discredit that win. We had 2 injured running backs against the #3 rush defense in the country and still won.

Well I certainly appreciate the honesty.
I'm really not sure why so many think that all of a sudden I've become a coot but I will assume it's because I speak very highly of South Carolina and I respect Shane. I have many really good friends that are gamecocks and I'm certainly not trading that for the glory of a few tnetters.
Or is it because I TU some of judge kellers posts?
As for my posts all year. I've been consistent throughout the year. I kept saying we're a good team but our competition was suspect.
So what makes smu elite? They lost to the two ranked teams they played??? How's that make them elite? I don't recall seeing them in the playoffs in the last 15 years. Yes, I agree with Saban, they should have never been ranked 8th.

If you suggest that losing a bunch of games is the key to success, then I would have to disagree.
Texas will be a tall task. Anything can happen any day, but having a proven, healthy RB ready to go would be a great start to being competitive against Texas.

I want us to beat the tar out of Texas. I also thought tonight that SMU might be a fair comparison to Texas.
The problem is that the match-ups are not good, though. For this game, we don't have a healthy, proven RB. We also have no depth at DE.
I have been on this board for years talking about depth issues at RB and DE, for example, but it's the same few defending the lack of recruiting/portal usage to plug these holes.
Texas did, and now they have one of our best secondary ex-players opposing us. The song remains the same. Do you remember Kindrik?

Good take, except for the “should’ve beat South Carolina” thing. By that logic, we “should’ve lost to Pitt”. We made the play at the end of the game to beat Pitt, and South Carolina made a play at the end of the game to beat us. Just the way it goes. Very happy with winning the ACC, but I think some of our coaches are really hardheaded
