I love this article, and I've been saying this for a couple years. Consider the following...
2015 Championship: Rocky - A fighter new to the big stage gets a shot at the champ, and goes the distance, losing a close fight
2016 Championship: Rocky II - The rematch. Rocky defeats Apollo Creed in the last second of the match via knockout (sound familiar?)
2017 Playoff: Rocky IIIa - Clubber Lang knocks out Rocky in dominant fashion
2018 Championship: Rocky IIIb - Rocky knocks out Clubber Lang early in the fight. Lang has no idea what hit him.
2019: DRAAAGGOOOO!!!! DRRAAAAGGGGGOOOOO!!!

Okay, so if Nick Saban (friend and rival of Dabo) gets killed by a large Russian, then Dabo goes on to beat said Russian, I am gonna be scared....Life imitating art or the other way around.

After the first meeting, more than one person compared it to Rocky I, where Rocky isn't even supposed to be in the building with the Champ but ends up going 15 rounds and giving the Champ all he wanted despite ultimately losing. "Ain't gonna be no rematch." "Don't want one."
Standing in the stands in Raymond James before kickoff of the rematch, I reminded my family of Rocky I and Rocky II's ending. Said that if the first game had been Rocky I, let's hope this is Rocky II.
After Bama went up with two quick scores, I reminded them that in Rocky II, Rocky is knocked down twice in the first round but ends up winning with 1 second left. How prophetic was that?
Also, when Peyton Manning came out as the guest coin flipper or whatever, I sang "Tigers gonna win this game." to the Nationwide jingle tune.
I thought the Sugar Bowl was Rocky III, where we got to believing our own press and let a big head mean we got outworked and beat because of it.
But a bit different from the article, I thought this regular season was the end of Rocky III, where we got mentally refocused and beat Clubber Lang.
That set up this year's Final as Rocky IV, where he took on "death from above" Ivan Drago, who had killed (in one case literally) everyone he had faced poised to be the greatest fighter of all time.
"I must break you."
"He's cut! The Russian is cut!"
Over in Rocky's corner: "He's worried! You cut him! You hurt him! You see? You see? He's not a machine, he's a man!"
Meanwhile over in the Russian's corner ""He's not human, he is like a piece of iron."
And Rocky chops him down.

I think a lot of us compared the last several years to Rocky movies. I know I certainly said the 1st and 2nd ones were just like Rocky 1 and 2. In fact, don’t shoot me, but I told people the night we lost the first one that there was a part of me that was glad we lost. We showed the world we belonged but nobody really thought that was going to be our year. I think if we had one it would have been premature and we wouldn’t have had as much to work toward, and have that hunger. The last 4 years couldn’t have played out much better. I would say I wish we at least made it to the final last year, but that would not have setup the battle with Bama like it did this year.
