Oregon State actually held us to 35 in November of 1999 in a game played in Greenville.

Clemson didn't take too many shots inside the arc

Jan 24, 2018, 6:11 AM

the whole game. Why Brownell doesn't take advantage of the speed & athleticism of our players and let them work the paint with cutters, pick/roll/screens, post ups & backdoors is beyond me. The perimeter defense of our guards is non-existent & puts the post players into a bad fouling position. THAT is on the coaching and unless a balance is found inside/outside, nothing will get better for any team.

I agree, like most college basketball teams these days, we never pick away from the ball to get anybody open. The only picks I see is that useless ball screen at the top of the key that never works. We are playing (like most everyone else) AAU basketball - if you can't beat anyone off the dribble you kick it out for a 3 point attempt.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That was epic bad.

I realize VA is #2 and we are without Grantham, but we looked like we did not even belong on the same floor. I hope this was just a one-off (really off) performance.

did you not watch the game? did you not see just terrible misses? That hasn't been the case all season just came and got Clemson tonight. We went on a terrible stretch of shooting in the 2nd half and people (not saying you) is on coaching. BB isn't out there shooting the assistant coaches aren't out there shooting. Virginia is a great defensive team and we went cold shooting at their house. Trying to regroup as a team since our heart and soul as so many suggest was out his first game of the rest of the season. The sky isn't falling we can regroup and continue on. I don't understand why so many "fans" are saying the season is over. Clemson is 16-4 and going into tonight's game was projected as a #2 seed. If we would have won tonight do you know what our projection in bracketology would have been? A #2 seed! so this loss might drop us to a #3 or #4? So what?!? What else has this program been doing in March? We aren't going to be kicked out of the tournament b/c they say you lost to UVA at their court. I can't wait for the football team to lose 2 or 3 games in a season and see all these "fans" reactions to it.

The misses might not have been there all year. But the turnovers have been. Can't continue to be that soft, sloppy, careless (whatever word you want to use) with the ball against good teams.
That won't work.

When something isn't working good coaches make adjustments. It wasn't done last night and wasn't done in the Sugar Bowl when Alabama made us one dimensional. Did the Patriots make adjustments at half time this past weekend? Darn right they did. Coaching, coaching, coaching.

wait, so you say fire brownell and swinney? ok! got it

So, by your logic we should be able to make an adjustment at half time and win every game?

You do know we can make adjustments, but, wait for it, the other team can too!

We were down to Bama by 4 at half time, what incredible adjustment would you have made? Not have a fluky interception? Good call coach!

As for the Patriots game, what half time adjustment did they make that allowed them to not score in the 3rd quarter (the one immediately after halftime)? In fact, in the 3rd quarter they ran 9 plays for 36 yards. Pretty #### good adjustment by Belichick there.

Sometimes you just have to chalk it up to getting beat by a better team, that's what happened last night, end of story.

Sometimes, coaches can only make so many adjustments. Coach Swinney was limited in the Sugar Bowl, especially once 'Bama got ahead 24-6. No Oline blocking and no running back blocking equals no offense. Transition to Bball. The Cavaliers are a terrific defensive squad and make most opposing offenses look lousy. Only so much coach Brownell could do, especially with Grantham gone. Just not enough dynamic players. Watch Duke, Kansas, Oklahoma, Villanova, even Carolina. These teams have tremendous offensive talent and can make things happen when they need to. Clemson? Just not there, especially against really good teams.

Ok, so coaching doesn't make a difference? But wait, which way was Alabama headed before they got Saban? And with the same talent his predecessor had he turned the team around. And S for lack of talent and depth, how many more years does BB need to be at CU before he develops that. Took Dabo what, about 3 to 4 years to get it started. Again, how much more time does BB need?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Actually Dabo only needed one year

Jan 24, 2018, 2:20 PM

... to accomplish what Bowden could not in 10. After that it took a few years to complete the culture change and he got it done, bigly. One game - not BB fault. Many years of not relevant and just sporadically competitive - he owns that. I hope this season is a turning point. Have not watched much in years, just started getting excited.... (insert Homer Simpson)!

We were up by 7 with 6 min to go in half...we didn't score again till halftime!! That's crazy! So by half, I think we were down by 4! Quite the swing

Wait, we scored at halftime? That's pretty impressive, we should exploit that strategy more.

Don't know why Thomas only played 15 minutes ?!! Skara contributed nothing to the offense and little to defense. He had 17 minutes and NO rebounds. Maybe we just wanted everyone to get practice minutes?
