Not only is just okay offensively, but he can’t block a ball in the dirt for his life. Cal has 2 runs both directly impacted by balls the catcher let get by. Also, Cal who isn’t a base stealing team has 2 stolen bases in 3 innings as result the Tigers not be able to throw out base runners stealing. Right now our catcher is a liability on defense.

That's what Bakich gets for not getting another real catcher in the portal....we have no one behind him, definitely the best option.

He’s solid but he’s been taking a beating we need another catcher they don’t trust gaffney to catch in any big games I think the wear and tear is catching up on Jarrel it looks like he’s not 100 percent

Sorry, I will have to disagree. I believe he is at best an average defensive catcher maybe even slightly below average. He has already had a game this year with 4 past balls. Not good. I will say one positive thing about his game, he is really good at framing pitches. The rest of his defensive game is subpar though.

Why is the pitcher throwing balls on the dirt on the first place. Throw strikes and you dont have to worry about past balls

Aidan Knaak is trying to get the batters to swing at junk pitches but Jacob needs to put his body out there and stop the balls anyway he can.

AK not at his best, the steals are not on JJ.
Why the board loves to hate on JJ, who is our best catcher, is crazy.

Gaffney is not a catcher. And who would you put at 1B? Priest can’t play it, maybe Crighton but you’d really like to have some power potential there.
