You choose hyperbole (I.e., implication that huge faults leading to intense public distrust of these institutions = desire to eliminate these institutions) instead of reading it for what it says (‘Americans don’t trust these institutions as ‘sole mission is to serve the public good’).

The issue is that people who reflexively defend these institutions every time that someone criticizes them for descending into self-serving entities refuse to advocate for major reform of these institutions.

Arguing that ‘they did great things in the past, so leave them uncriticized (and free of outside influence to reform them) because they will fix themselves’ is akin to condoning Dabo’s reflexive ‘I’ve done great things in the past, so pay no attention to the decline of Clemson FB over the past 5 seasons’ excuses.

Do you recognize the Orwellian nature of your defense of the establishment’s campaign to discredit (also shout down) criticism of these institutions as being ‘trash propaganda designed to weaken (aka via speaking in opposition to the long standing authoritarian doctrine that these institutions should never be questioned by anyone outside of govt authorities) our confidence in our institutions … and here’s the Orwellian part … to “allow” authoritarian-minded people (which means people who are NOT the authoritarians, but rather being non-powerful people who had the temerity to challenge the REAL authoritarians) to rewrite reality for the “gullible masses” (I.e., those who question what Big Brother says) to blame for whatever?
