I would think that the CFP Commitee is rooting HAWRD

for the Dawgs in the SEC Championship game. A Dawg win would not force them to choose between a 12-1 Georgia and a 13-0 Cincy. Leaving Cincy out in that scenario would be a public relations nightmare, but I believe that is EXACTLY what would happen.

Assuming Georgia wins (and I think they will)...

and Okie State and Meesheegin both win, I'm thing the CFP will look a little something like this: 1 - Georgia
2 - Michigan
3 - Oklahoma State
4 - Cincinnati

style choke, knowing that they are most likely IN the CFP with a win.
I liken their situation to what a commentator said about winning on the PGA Tour a few years ago.
"Sometimes, just shooting an even par round is the hardest thing to do, if you know in advance that an even par round is all you would need to win."
Okie State SHOULD beat Baylor, but, will Gundy pull a Gundy? If they do, T. Boone Pickens will roll over in his grave one more time.

I agree except ND gets #4 if Houston beats Cincinnati. If Alabama loses to UGA and with Ohio State not making it Big Ten title game both of them should be done specially if committee actually watching the games.

I more worried about OkSU.
2011, they diddled a 11-1 OkSU to push a LSU/Bama rematch. Their only loss wasa 3OT at Iowa State (sounds kinda similar no?). Most of their other games were 50+ point thumping, save that 40-10 victor over #10 OU and a 1 point squeeker vs #8 TAM at Kyle. That team would have obliterated LSU if they played in the BCS, likely beat Bama too.
At this point with ND sitting at #6, I think Cincy's ticket is punched if they win the AAC. I think the SEC winner and Meechigan (if they win) is punched. For me it will be if Jawja loses and OkSU wins... because SEC rematches always carry over a OkSU team.

CFP, while not perfect, has been reasonable most of the time. It’s hard to see UGA drop from 1 to 5 with a close loss though…I think in that scenario, it would be a difficult decision for the committee.
A scenario not being discussed is what happens if Michigan, Cincy and Ok St. all lose this weekend? 2 loss teams all over the place. I hope they all find a way to win at this point…mainly because no door needs to be open for Notre Dame, Ohio St., etc.

What happens if Meechigan, OK State, Cincy all lose... if that happens:
All Three Are Out & OSU and the B10 are out completely.
Both Jawja and Bama are in if Bama wins. ND is in. Oregon might be in IF they win. (beats the OSU claim)
If Jawja wins (not happening) then ND, Oregon, and then: Baylor might get in. (if Bama loses badly) as I don't think Iowa will jump them. I don't think Bama survives if beat badly.

Your funny .. the CFP has been terrible from day one. Cases in point they don't like Big 12 unless OU wins. Like BCS they are pro SEC pro Alabama. Saban tells them no team should make it when they don't play for conference championship. Year they didn't play in it Saban cried and they played #1 Clemson in Sugar Bowl. That year their biggest win was #4 FSU that ended the season out of top 25. Sugar Bowl officiating has been pro SEC from day one. Alabama hasn't been top 4 team the entire season.

And for Bama to beat UGA. That way they could have Michigan, Bama, UGA, and Cinci. (And it would be funny for ND to get left out of course at 11-1.)
I think they'd love to have 2 SEC teams in the playoff, but I also think that they want Cinci to make it.

I grow weary of these random mid-majors and their sob story every year. Oh boy, you beat southwest missouri state 12 times and went undefeated. So what.

Notre Dame certainly doesn't deserve a shot considering they lost to Cincy and their past performance in playoffs and no conference Championship

If a team can go undefeated (especially with a win against a current top 10 team) and not get an invite then lets stop pretending they play in the same division of football as the power 5 teams.
I just don't like any system where you can win every game and have no shot at the title.

You are trying to make the exact argument agains Cincy that
Nov 29, 2021, 9:31 AM

the Talking Heads try to make against US every year. They refer to the ACC schedule as "hot garbage". You might want to rethink before you continue to harp on it. Cincy has to play the teams in their conference, just like we do. They added a strong OOC game this year in Notre Dame, and won it. They deserve to be in it this year as much as we did in several past years.

their schedule ranks well outside the top 100. Even with Notre Dame, it's still hot garbage.
I can't recall a single time when Clemson made the playoffs that the schedule was ranked outside the top 50.

Not true Clemson like OU starts season high and stays there. Clemson has been there few times when schedule wasn't top notch. ACC weaker conference in last several years cause once powerhouse teams FSU and Miami rebuilding. SEC not as tough was it used to be only few compete for title but getting better. Getter beater with Ole Miss of late but powerhouses FLA and Tenn been rebuilding,

Well, thats the truth of it though. There is a reason there is the P5 and the Group of 5. It isnt the same, it just isnt. And shouldnt be treated as equal. Because as bad as the ACC is, its still miles better than the American.

Georgia would 100% deserve it over Cincy in that scenario. Anyone who disagrees just doesn’t pay attention to college football.

Why would people be mad at that? UGA has looked like the best team all year. They've won every game outside of Clemson by multiple scores and no team has scored over 17 on them. Are you saying a loss to the #2 team would suddenly make them not a top 4 team anymore? I guess we're supposed to be impressed with Cincy keeping it close with all those group of 5 teams and then beating an ND team who loses twice as many big games as they win.
