and 98 yard TD pass to Snoop Minnis may have been the greatest fake handoff of all time

That was one of the worst kicks in the gut I’ve experienced. He just sat there in what felt like slow motion. I get sick thinking of it.

It was a brilliantly executed play! Unfortunately it happened against us.

The 2000 game was tough. I had to listen to the end of it on the radio. What year was the Johnson TD?

We sat behind the endzone of that play. It seemed like an eternity that he stood there with the ball.

We also sucked in 2000. Yes, we finished 9-3 but that

record was fools gold. We had some good players but we beat nobody with a pulse that season and finished it 1-3. The best teams we beat were NCSU and SCar who both finished 8-4. I doubt seriously that play would happen now.
Interestingly enough, the following season Chris Rix began starting for FSU and that's when the wheels started coming off for Bobby Bowden.
That play was sickening, but nothing will ever top puntrooskie and Deion Sanders' punt return and taunting the fans in the same game in '88. If you aren't old enough to remember that game, count your blessings. I've never been so sick over a football game in my 53 years.

I don't think Chris Rix was the problem. I think the issue

was key assistants leaving as Bowden aged. Amato left for NC State after the 1999 title and then Mark Richt the next year for Georgia. 2001 was the first year without Richt and also happened to be the first year of Chris Rix. I really think if Rix had come along a few years earlier he would've been right there winning 10 games every year like the rest of those FSU QBs.

No one person is ever the problem, and yes they lost some

good assistants, but Rix, in 4 years as a starter, threw for a total of less than 8500 yds, 55% comp, 63 TDs and 40 INTS. And they were still recruiting blue chips all over the field.
Rix finished 25-11 and was benched his Sr year. A lackluster QB spoils the whole aura and Rix did that. The assistants certainly played a role in the downfall but Rix spearheaded the downturn on the field.

I'm sure it was at least partially on Rix, but i dont think

he got much in the way of coaching. I have a hard time believing he was that much worse than, say, Thad Busby. Statistically he ended up being a lot worse, but things were eroding around Rix in that program - it just wasn't like the FSU of the late 80s and 90s.

Play action passes are awesome. Your QB has to be under center though. That was a great play though.

and finished it off with 15 jumping jacks back there back then...we weren't getting through that lineup and sacking him back in those days. There was just no chance of beating those boys.

the 2014 FSU game was so frustrating

Missing wide open Leggett with the ball thrown at his feet. Mack Alexander falling down and giving up maybe the only TD of his 2 years playing at Clemson. The overturned TD catch, then not challenging the call when it looked like Gallman scored, then the hike over DW's head, and then the missed FG all on the same drive. Then to lose in overtime with their backup QB starting and having to watch Winston's stupid grin at the end. But we took over the next year.

Wasn't that when we were driving late in the game, but CJ Davidson fumbled the ball, which lead to FSU TD that put the game in OT?

I can't remember the score when that play was run, but I believe the game was way out of reach at that point.
Weinke played the entire game which they won 54-7. He through for 521 yards. Again, another example of FSU running it up for style points.
I hate Florida State.

What I remember about that game and season was Wienke was 32 years old and had played pro baseball for a while and shouldn’t have been allowed to play against boys.
