Change the lineup around!

Apr 8, 2015, 9:51 AM

If Slayton struck out the next 20 times, would Jack make a change? Several guys on the bench that need a shot. Cox is batting .088 with runners in scoring position. Slayton is just not a good enough hitter (.175) to lead off, wish they would try Pinder leading off and Slayton 8th or 9th.
Wilson is hitting .224 and fielding percentage of 82%, yet never sits. I think letting some other guys get some playing time it creates competition and when you are barely .500 we need that! Try some things Jack, it might work.

Jack has become a reincarnate of Tommy Bowden....

His teams are terribly inconsistent and he is too stubborn to change anything.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Batson filled in for Wilson last night ... until the 8th

inning.

However, Mendoza was still lead-off batter ... and made the last out.

I just don't understand why Jack keeps the line up like it is. The season is lost so switch things up, if the best 9 are playing then why in the heck are these bench players even on the team. I have seen better infield play at my nephews HS games and I'm not lying. If you have a weak hitting team you got to play good D but yet a little grounder is always an adventure.

You nailed it. Seems like we can always count on an infield error that puts pressure on our pitcher at a critical time in the game and leads to unearned runs that then put pressure on our offense.

Don't all of you know jack is the smartest man in the room?

He never admits he is wrong, never changes things up. I have several questions about lineup and playing time. I see other coaches make regular changes due to starting pitching, ie. righty/lefty matchups. Robert Jolly should be getting regular playing time to rest Okey. Recently Okey caught 27 innings in just over 24 hours. This is never done in the majors and rarely in college ball. A couple of seasons ago, Boulware's grandmother was telling me how worn out Garrett was by the end of the season and his hitting showed it. We had signed a highly rated catcher out of Virginia who never played at all and subsequently left the program. Is Maleek still injured and if not, why hasn't he been utilized? There have been several occasions where TS should have been pinch hit for with a lefty/lefty matchup. Batson or Wharton should have pinch hit. I am exasperated by jack's poor decisions and this year for the first time in years I did not attend the team dinner in February. Since I don't have any clout with the athletic department, its the only way I can protest.
In defense of TS, he has had a poor year hitting and he would be the first to tell you, he has been tough and recently had a .400%+ OBP. I, also, would drop Duggar down, has lead team in strikeouts the last twos seasons. Both White and Pender have hit the ball well and could move up.
I am through venting, but I don't any chance of change for the better until jack is gone.
Another area we are lacking is endowment scholarships. Munson stated last night that Ga had nine players on endowment scholarships. Time for the administration to step up, too.

Well Jack listened and changed the lineup. The result, another loss to a team we should have defeated! Now, what will he do when we face mighty Boston College this weekend. Will Slaton lead off and play center field? Who will play first base? Who will start at third base? Stay tuned to the Clemson baseball comedy show. Who knows what Jack has planned to resurrect the program.
