If he can’t return, we have to find an experienced DT in the portal. If he does come back, we’re probably good.
I think we are fine at DE for right now.
LB and S make the most sense to me.
Hoping Dabo announces the new DC soon. Let them go recruit their guys from the portal.

I think the room is fine.
We NEED a safety. Barnes isn’t even good there and he’s a lock to start. Other than that you have Griffin 18 and Ricardo jones who is NOT fast enough to cover downfield
Safety is the only position of concern heading into 2025

I agree I really think we need to go make a splash and get a good experienced safety. Think we need to improve there. The DTs will be fine imo so safety is a big need imo and also a good LB wouldnt be nice tho maybe crayton or Anderson can come on at LB. Go Tigers!!!

Well I agree but the coaches seem fixed on having 2 starters. I def would love to see us get a LB and 2 safeties personally

We’d need to add depth from the portal. We’ve been through this before.

I am hoping that we have a guy that may be overlooked so far that will vastly improve at safety. Hannifin got on the field almost immediately after being moved from wr so with an off season to continue to learn the position, he may be a budding starter. He seems speedy and is a terror on special teams.

Sound take here. Green was pretty good in backup duty. One of the brighter spots on the 2 deep. I think Adam’s will play right away also. A good added piece.

I agree about Barnes. I think he would be better at linebacker where he has to manly cover tight ends or running backs. He had gotten too big to cover speedy guys.

So go after a mediocre portal DT that has experience and risk losing Shuler or Thompson? No thank you. I’ll leave that call to Eason. He knows what we have. If he thinks the talent is there then we have the numbers.
We knew we didn’t have the numbers on DE. We had to go get someone and we still lost Hoffler. I just don’t think we need to go into the portal for a DT unless Shuler and Thompson are duds which only the coaches know that.

Lawson and Denhoff have started games. Having both of them as backups is fine.
Watford and Mayo were highly recruited.

Sorry but I don’t count Lawson and Denhoff as reliable depth. They are purely bodies. They were liabilities all season. We have to hope Mayo and Watford live up to their billing. I have more faith in Shuler and Thompson as backups at DT than those two at DE.

I think two DE that started multiple games is more then reliable depth. A transfer at this point was probably a backup at their original school.

Capehart doesn't matter. We have younger faster DT ready to play and chomping at the bit. DT will be a strong point.

freshman and sophomore than Capeheart will ever be. Capeheart should not be that hard to replace. If he’s not a complete bust he’s close.
