Can we stop the zone read offense if QB never keeps it?

Sep 21, 2021, 11:55 PM

Multiple times Saturday, the correct play was the QB to keep the ball on the zone read. On those plays, the RB instead ran for negative yards, or even a safety on our own goal line.

One could question why we took a snap from the shotgun, or why we did a delayed zone read play instead of a quick hitter, or why the QB never keeps the ball. The only QB runs were designed QB runs last weekend.

Yeah he sure did. He did it last year too but I wrote it off they were protecting him in case Trevor went down etc. Obviously struggling more on reading defenses than we knew.

Irks me hearing our coaches talk about his poor mechanics and showed up 18 months ago with said problems. What have you been working on for 18 months. Why just now are we "starting to clean it up".
