Agree. Waste of a good hit. Could've had two in scoring position with Pinder coming up to bat.

2 outs it was the right call.

Agreed...

Especially with Jackson up vs the righty with RISP...good send.

Wasn't even close, really. Rounding third as the cutoff made the turn....easy out.

How is it the right call? So what there was 2 outs, Pinder was coming up who had the 2nd best BA on the team.

Was absolutely the wrong call with Beer running, its almost like nobody taught Beer how to run he runs so upright its very odd.

That's like 4 times Beer himself has been thrown out at home

Third base coach has got to go. Never should have sent beer. Missed 2 other calls today. He has done this all year. No way beer can score from first as hard as that ball was hit to right.

Knew he was going to be out as soon as the outfielder picked the ball up. Couldn't believe he wasn't even in the frame when the ball arrived to the catcher!

I don't see nothing wrong with it, we are awful with RISP.
So got to take a chance anyway you can get a run

The chance is taken that the throw is errant. I understand, just sucks

Exactly make him make a good throw
If only 1 out no way hold him up

Lightbulb.

Stop having good ideas that indicate that you may understand the game of baseball!!!

Look at Jackson's #s vs righties...h3ll I would have tried to send Rudy home too.

I agree with what you say. Stay aggressive but not with Beer. Everyone knows he wears concrete boots. So far this early in the game we've got hits... or bet on a wp.

We've proven time and again that we'll strand a runner or runners. We've got nothing to lose. Put pressure on them to make throws.

Re: Rolling the dice ... playing to win.

Not worth the risk with Beer. Especially when the ball hit so hard.

Re: Rolling the dice ... playing to win.

Jun 5, 2017, 12:28 PM

Disagree. Chances were really good that we leave Beer stranded on 3rd. That's been the story for the past few weeks. It's our poor hitting in RISP situations that drives our coaches to take chances like this one.

You guys are acting like this is middle school or high school baseball, THESE OUTFIELDERS CAN THROW!! This is college D1 baseball the OF all can throw the ball. For Starbuck to think we have to gamble on the throw is just stupid. This is Vanderbilt not UNCG.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Rolling the dice ... playing to win.

Jun 5, 2017, 2:42 PM

It's less of a gamble if you don't have faith that the next Tiger batter can bring him in. Like I said ... our failure with RISP is causing us to make questionable decisions like this to try to win the game. If Starbuck holds Beer at 3rd and then the next batter strikes out looking, the argument as to why didn't he send him is just as heated.
