DW 4 made some boneheaded throws early in his career. I hope Cade can quickly learn from his. There’s promise there, I think.

DW4 was calmer than Cade.
And Ewers looked composed and clutch tonight. Hopefully, Cade can mature out of his nervy and jumpy happy feet and lead the Tigers to some big wins. And Riley can certainly help.

That’s right… Watson was a lot calmer. The troubling thing with Cade and I’m a Cade supporter, is that he is not going through his progressions and is missing wide-open receivers repeatedly. DW had better WR tho..
Spotty OL play isn’t helping either.
Dabo not giving Cade more snaps last year wasn’t prudent either.

The toughest Clemson QB to ever put on the Uniform. I hope his comeback story is better than any.

I didn’t see Cade missing wide open receivers except on his one bad throw that was the pick six. Otherwise, he put the ball on the money most of the day. Maybe he checks down a little quick, but I thought he had a nice game barring the obvious 2 or 3 bad plays.

The OP's verbiage is not too good. He used the word "missing", but should have said " not seeing" receivers that are open.

You are absolutely spot on. He knows his target pre-snap and does very little to disguise it. He locks on and is determined to get the ball to that guy. Receivers were running open all over the field yesterday. Especially backs in the flat on check down routes, where there were no defenders within 15 yards of them.

Missing them, as in missing throws? Or missing them, as in not seeing them wide-open?

to be pretty much what Watson was used to running all through high school.
Cade is now on his second offensive system in as many years.
He still has to learn not to chunk it up for grabs as he is being tackled, though. That is true in ANY offense.

Other team that might be behind at the half is the clock rule. This severely limits possessions in the second half. Makes come backs nearly impossible.
The only thing the clock rule does is give time for more commercials.

how does the clock rule give more time for commercials? It shortens the game by about 8 plays. It doesn't force anyone to call media timeouts.

Because “the game” on TV is actually taking longer. If you lol at the average game time through 2 weeks, it’s greater than last year. Yes the number of snaps is less and but the time is longer because they are selling more commercial time.

Dw4 was unshaded by anything. Dude was a stud coming off the bench at Sanford. He said, I played beat all these guys in high school…legendary.

vanish (mostly) over time. Trevor had one of the issue too. It's difficult to hit a moving target. Throwing early leaves the ball hanging for the defense. The correct way to miss, as if there is a right way to do wrong, is to toss it so that it's at the hands or slightly late.
Like huntin' wabbits, you have to lead the receiver on a crossing route or any route which requires the QB to judge horizontal changes. The easiest passes are when the receiver is stationary, you're just throwing the ball in the back yard, and when the receiver is moving directly away from the QB. The horizontal angle isn't changing on those.
Hitting a crossing target takes a ton of practice with the each receiver. DW and TL got it. Cade isn't quite there yet but his progress encourages me toward seeing him as one of the greats.

A better comparison might be Freshman DW4 versus Cade. Watson had many more meaningful snaps his freshman year than Cade did last year.
As much as they might try, you just can't simulate game activity in practice or scrimmages. There just isn't enough pressure if they don't need to worry about being hit. I don't know to what extent Cade will improve or if it will be in time to save the season, but he will improve. All we can do is wait and see when and how much.

Let's not forget the Pitt game in 2016. Yes DW4 threw for 580 yards, but also threw 3 INTs. I was there and thinking "what are you doing", but he came back after every one of them.
I'm a big Cade fan, and love the fight in him. I feel confident Riley can coach the "bonehead" out of him.
Go Tigers!
