Cade a immediate Heisman trophy candidate?

Dec 6, 2022, 5:59 PM

I’m not saying Cade wins it. But Cade will be a immediate heisman candidate next season. I expect Cade to have a special year next season and lead Clemson back to playoffs!

I think Cades ceiling pretty dog on high at this point and if I had to bet I would feel pretty safe to say he might be our first Heisman. Have a feeling Dabo is going to take teams to the cleaner next year on our revenge tour

If we do demolish teams next year, Dabo will pull Cade in the third quarter to give other guys snaps, thus limiting Cade's chances for a Heistman. It's always been this way.

No “t” in Heisman.

No.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I do think he'll be great, but man, pump the brakes a little

Dec 6, 2022, 6:02 PM

UNC is #121 in pass defense.

Just like Trevor the game versus UNC was a continuation of what he did all throughout HS. Sure you can be like the coots or the talking heads who don’t like us and discredit what he did Saturday night. Or you can do you research and understand the kid is legit. He’s not going to be perfect but he’s not going to fold either kid just wins.

He has a great story to start with by leading the team to a come from behind win for conference championship. He looked great, but he wasn't facing the best defense so our expectations might need to be tempered.

As for whether a Clemson player will ever win the Heisman, keep in mind a coot did and we can do anything they can do.

Literally all you guys did was discredit Rattler for 438 yds and 6 TDs against Tennessee by pointing out how bad their pass defense was....then a week later Rattler shredded yall lol when yall said "Our secondary aint Tennessee". You guys got roasted

UNC pass defense was #116 out of 131 coming into yalls game and they were without 2 of their major contributors in the secondary

I remember DJ his freshmen year shredding Notre Dame in South Bend, a much better defense than UNC and yall were convinced yall were gonna win the natty with him....we see how that worked out

Maybe pump the breaks and apply your own logic to Cade....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're jealous to the point of insanity, lol

Well, that escalated quickly

Dec 7, 2022, 12:47 AM [ in reply to Re: I do think he'll be great, but man, pump the brakes a little ]

You took what I said and went off the rails bud.

I said it's too early to call him an immediate Heisman candidate next year.

I said, again, I think Cade will be great, but Heisman talk after one game is a little premature.

And every thing you said about "research" on Cade also applies to the former #1 hs qb that just announced he's transferring.

DJ couldn't even hit a wide open receiver 10 yards away against this horrible pass defense. Cade will have some growing pains as the starter but he will rise to the occasion I think.

Maybe but I'm not gonna put crazy expectations on him. Besides, if Trevor or Deshaun didn't win the thing, I'm skeptical we will ever have one.

Re: Cade a immediate Heisman trophy candidate?

Dec 6, 2022, 6:09 PM

The only difference I could see that would give Cade a bump is Dabo going all out next year and not pulling off the gas. If he doesn’t then Cade might end up like Deshaun/Trevor with being more then deserving for the award but not getting due to winning to big and not being allowed to pad stats.

Where are you getting Dabo is going all out next year? Doesn’t he try to do that every year?

Getting from no where then just my opinion, Dabo is human he’s going to want to shut those talking heads back down. No coach is better then when Dabo sets out with something to prove

Dec 6, 2022, 10:03 PM [ in reply to Re: Cade a immediate Heisman trophy candidate? ]

Our defense will probably take time to gel especially up front so Cade may have to outscore a few teams early so until defense gets settled I believe he will put up big numbers early

Dec 6, 2022, 6:20 PM

Time to calm down.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A couple of things

Dec 6, 2022, 6:21 PM

Cade has a long way to go, and yet to start a game. He hasn’t faced a really top defense and he hasn’t faced of defense that has game planned for him. He hasn’t had significant reps with the first team and he’s going to have one start before next season. I think the kid has great talent incredible poise and certainly show some electricity. But it’s a bit early for Heisman talk.

Plus, as some people have already pointed out if Watson didn’t win it, and Trevor didn’t win it it is highly unlikely that we will ever see a Heisman candidate while Dabo is the coach at Clemson. He will never leave a quarterback in long enough to get the gaudy numbers required to win. He’s always going to pull the starter for fear of injury, and to let other players have reps.

Lets pump the brakes a bit and let the young man at least get a few games under his belt before declaring him a Heisman candidate. Does he have a chance to be that good, undoubtedly yes but its way too early to start penciling him in at this point. Patience.

All the naysayers about NC being 121 thats fine but we would not have won that game without Cade and thats a fact. Maybe not next year but he definitely will be in the conversation for the Heisman ...as for me the ACCCG game is the only game this season that i really wanted to watch again...excited about next years TEAM...Go Tigers

I think Cade's playing time was severely restricted this year because we never had a commanding lead in the third quarter so the QB2 could get some playing time. Hopefully, that will change in 2023, but first let's beat UT!

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Will ‘Street’ and Dabo even think he’ll be ready by next season? He may not even get 30 percent of reps with the ones for the bowl.

This reminds me of the "Chase Brice is the second best QB in the ACC" threads.

Folks need to calm down a bit.

Cade throws a nice ball, but let wait until year 3. Early Heisman hype can destroy a QB. Get him to press and take risk.

Let it come naturally. Let him build a nice resume.
I have a feeling he can. But lets not destroy another QB.

We have to stop comparing everyone to Trevor. (I know he didn't win). I'm just saying Trevor was a unicorn. It will be some time before another comes along.
