I’m going to lay out the possible scenarios for this season and how it affects Brad.
1) The team gets back on fire and we make a deep postseason run, not specifying how far but anything far is great.
2) The team breaks down and we make the NIT, disappointing.
3) Complete breakdown and no postseason appearance.
If 2 or 3 happens, Brad is gone. So to all of you Brad haters and all of you optimistic of Brad, there really is no bad outcome to this season. If they do great, then it’s a success. If they do bad, Brad’s finally gone. Win-Win in my opinion.
Just enjoy every game and cheer for our team, nothing bad can happen here.

I keep hearing got to win 1. Got to win 2.
At least 32 will lose their first game. Only 16-20 will win 2 depending on how the first 4 do in their 2nd game. Remember Virginia lost to a 64 as a number 1 seed.

With only 8 regular season games left and at least 1 ACC Tournament game to play even going worst case, we would be 18-14 which would get us in the NIT. Baring massive injuries, I just can't see going 0-9 the rest of the year so I still think we win enough to get at least 1 ACC bye and get in the NCAA. Whether that would save Brad's job is totally up to Neff.

Worst case scenario would take Brownell from conference coach of the year to fired. I don’t see that happening. It’s likely to get choppy here in February because the stiffer part of the conference slate has arrived. 10-1 was a great start but a 15-5 finish seems like a more reasonable take. That puts Clemson towards the top and likely a 1st round bye in the conference tournament. That’s a darn good regular season. Probably an 8/9 seed in the NCAAT.

I think Brad has earned the right for more time if Clemson continues on a historical path. And this will only happen as long as the AD continues to make financial and facilities upgrades to the facilities and fans show support for Coach B and the kids on the team.
Since NIL appears to be the out of control major recruiting carrot, Brad should have a chance to use that carrot. Let’s see if Clemson can catch up with the big money schools like Duke, NC, Syracuse , or the original ACC schools from NC that ran the ACC for yearsAnd some of the other ACC teams that have a more successful history. For Clemson a football school, it’s always been a more difficult climb up the mountain for the basketball.
IMO based on what seems important to recruits in 2023 “Image” is very import. The exterior look of LJ needs an upgrade that gets a Wow reaction from recruits before they step inside LJ. I believe Dabo uses the exterior of DV and other football facilities for the same reasons. For example the grave yard near the new football facilities And the new NIL facility under construction.

With the absolute horrible state of ACC basketball - the weak OOC schedule - the bad losses to quad 4 - the win numbers are fools gold.
I do think the team is pretty good. Without playing a single ranked team - we simply don’t know how we stack up. Could we make a run in the tourn? Yes. We could also go home quickly. Teams that play better teams in their regular season are battle tested. We are not.
As for Brad - I hope that the entire 13 years is looked at before a decision is made. Tyson leaves this year and JP might. With them gone, I wonder how good next year can be.
IMO - we need a program builder - after 13 years - has he built anything?
I hope we don’t use a recency bias and forget the prior 12.
Btw, just watching the team we squeaked by -FSU - down by 30 in the first half to nc state. Wow.

I've been a critic of BB given his long tenure and failure to advance the program.
But he is returning next season no matter what.
Last night was a terrible loss, but we're still in first place. Plenty of season left and the team is playing as confident as any Clemson team I've seen in decades.

is that we do decent down the stretch, maybe not great, make the tournament, and lose in the second round. Is that enough to save Brownell's job? Probably. Should it be? That's trickier.

Needs to learn how to play an inside power game with three bigs in at the same time for those times like BC where our outside game just is not there!
