Clemson Cool in the 60's

Kids then were kinda innocent compared to kids now.
Access to information was less then.

Clemson men saw themselves as gentlemen on a high level.
About all we had to go on as to "cool" was movies like James Bond.

Information available then was as crap as what kids get now off their dumb phones.
We had Brother Dave Gardner on records.

Thumbs up for Brother Dave. It was announced that he died in a plane crash. Only to find out that he didn't board the plane.

yeah.they've been one of my favs since the 50's and tom dooley.1st year it made no sense to go home to Ct. for thanksgiving and then again in a few weeks for Christmas,so i stayed in johnstone(d-603) and had turkey in the dining hall.not much fun.the dorm was like being in the movie the shining-deserted.one saving grace was a friend lent me his stereo and a few albums.one of which was the trio's new frontier.played "the first time and long black veil" endlessly.did get a lot of studying in,but glad to see everyone return on Sunday.

I was around junior high or early high school then, but was a diehard KT (and Bond - Sean Connery, of course) fan. That era of cool was just fading out when I darkened the Loggia's doorstep in 1966. Pretty soon it was funny cigarettes and The Wild Angels instead of scotch and soda and Bond...

I was born in November of ‘67, I heard a lot of 50’s & 60’s songs but I remember most songs and groups minus The Rolling Stones, Beatles & Elvis from ‘70 on because they were played the most on the radio and records.

My Dad being a minister who was the leader of a conference of churches I heard a lot of gospel so I was a little sheltered as a small kid. I played the piano from a young age so I did play all types of music but The great part is I can go back and enjoy the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s music and it’s like new to me.
