We have lacked that passion and leadership like his and Wilkins on the team for past few seasons. Iron sharpens iron.

Leadership on D seemed sorely lacking this season.

That's been a big key for our on field success over Dabo's time here - an abundance of player leadership. Hoping that Parker, Woods, and Sammy Brown having a year in now will help deliver that next season. Got to have kids in the room, sidelines, and field leading the charge to achieve greatness.

Wildblu just hit a major nail right on the head as far as our defense is concerned.
That’s a big big problem we’ve had… we have no dawgs anymore. Obviously you can’t have a team full of those types but you need a handful of those types of guys in the locker room and specifically on defense.
Defense has a lot to do with the mental side of football bc it’s about the “want to” and we’ve sorely missed that “want to” lately.
We need another Boulware or Wilkins or Shaq Lawson types that aren’t scared to hold other guys accountable and not just during games but everything in between including off the field.
We need those handful of guys that will get in an opponents face and not only beat them down but talk to them while we’re doing it.
I’m so so so sick of watching opposing offenses dictate to us how we’re going to play a game. What happened to that Tiger defense that dictated to opponents? That Tiger defense that forced opponents to play the way we wanted.
That Tiger defense that was super aggressive and just kept coming. That Tiger defense that pounded opponents into submission. That Tiger defense that refused to allow any opponents to take the game out of our hands?
Where is our heart aggressiveness and physicality on defense? That’s not all we’re missing but I fully believe it’s a huge piece to this puzzle.

When is the last time you saw someone play like that on defense not named James Skalski? Sammy Brown may very well be the next guy to do so. But before him there hasn't been anyone with that heart and intensity giving it there all.

Not the biggest or fastest, but NO ONE had his heart or football IQ at that position.... Sammy Brown looking like he can be the next Ben thus far!

Boulware was a very good college player but " no one had his heart or football IQ" is a stretch. Either you are young or you don't remember Anthony Simmons or Keith Adams. Those two would give Boulware a run for his money in Heart and football IQ. Those guys would have I am not even going to include The Judge, Levon, Ed McDaniel or Wayne Simmons because those three were out of this world athletically gifted with "heart and football IQ".

I still remember Brentson Bucker sitting on Taneyhill after a tackle. Just took his time getting up.

How many targeting and personal fouls (suplex tackles) would have been called if those plays were 2024?

That suplex tackle against Syracuse did draw a flag…….it was worth it, it did set a tone for the rest of that game.

Boulware wasn’t the biggest we have had, but you can make the argument he was the baddest. If I was in a bar fight, I would want him on my side.
