rest of the year. He had a 100 yard kickoff return last week vs Miami I think.

He has been injured. Only played in 4 games.

He can redshirt.

It's too bad. I want to beat the cards with their best guys on the field.

I still remember that UL game in 2016 with DW4 against Lamar. Awesome!

I watch that game for my fix

Is there a distinction between opting out and quitting the team?

I would guess that opting out is taking a redshirt, which means you are treated like a redshirt. You could still practice, use the facilities, the nutrionist, etc.

Quitting is that your just gone. You walk away and never have any contact with the team or coaches.

I always thought the coaches decided who to redshirt. Much like happened with Beamer I would not be inclined to feed, train and provide workout facilities for somebody that decided not to play.

I agree.
Wonder if there is some specific language in the agreement that states particulars like: must be present/active member of team, must be full participant, etc.

I have always said that, period.
I get a bunch of negative comments every time I post it. But, i'll post it again, if you aren't living up to what we agreed on: playing, working out, following team rules which encompass the 1st two and more, etc. then you are no longer funded.

There are not but 2-3 posters that would give negative comments to your common sense post!

Keep posting… you are not wrong!

Certainly won’t get any negative comments from me on that point of view. As a matter of fact, I’ll give it a +1.

Yep, and Beamer kicked one off the team for trying that very same thing. Beamer told him that the player didn't make those calls that the HC did and if he didn't want to play, he had to leave bc he wasn't going to Red Shirt him...

They absolutely do, noi disagreement there. As this evolves I think you will see 1 of 2 reactions from coaches when players say they are going to take a redshirt. Either they do what Beamer did and tell them to hit the bricks, or they agree to let the player take a redshirt probably in hopes to keep them next year.

Let me guess.

**Preparing for the draft

**School isn't paying him what he feels he's worth?

He won't be the only one; if schools don't stick together and nip this early.

Yep, and the people who "can't see past the next minute would argue that CFB is as popular as it has ever been"! Which might be true - TODAY.

Things like this; will slowly but surely cause people to find something else to pour their time and energy into. MLB was the top sport for years and years until that really ugly work stoppage over $$$$$ cost them fans. Some of whom have never returned. MLB has recovered, but just b/c you are on top today ( Blockbuster says hi ) doesn't mean you can just p'off your "CORE Audience/Support"!

He's been injured for half the season and can take a redshirt.

Whatever happened to “he’s redshirting” and normally I thought the coach announced that? No, this guy is portal bound and using his injury ss his excuse.
