It just seems that it is Georgia that Clemson fans hate the most. Not South Carolina. Georgia.
My best friends are Clemson fans and they tell me this is true, but they ALSO say they would never admit it publicly.
It may be that Clemson has owned South Carolina forever and the gamecocks are not viewed as a threat.
But, seriously, I ask the question: Do Clemson fans hate Georgia more than South Carolina? Is it a case of hating one school more, but wanting to beat the other school more?

Just as a point of reference, back in the 80s, the Student Newspaper, "The Red and Black", did a fan poll every year on who was our biggest rivals. Every year Florida, Auburn, and GaTech were the top 3 in various orders. Even in the 80s, Clemson was never in the top 3.
I agree we should play more often, though.

I consider Clemson a big rival, we just don’t play as much as we should. It’s like the way brothers who are rivals their whole lives but don’t hate each other. I look forward to the game.
Georgia is surrounded by states that consider us rivals but there’s not enough room in this heart to hate 4 or 5 schools with any fervency.

The 80’s Clemson/UGA was really the prime rivalry in the sport. National championships, close proximity, close matchups, and split records.
I hate Georgia. Of course I hate the chickens too but the dominance we’ve had over SC has taken away from some of the hatred. Losing two years ago was a quick reminder how bad their fans are.
I assume uga feels the way about Clemson as we do against the capons. It’s not really been a rivalry lately
USC/UGA is one and only game I may cheer for one of the schools. Used to always bull for UGA, but there may be a circumstance where a Georgia loss helps us more.

Seems that way because of where the South Carolina program is at the moment. If and when they turn it around and are competitive on a consistent basis, you'll see the hate for them is unmatched.

I wish we played every year. too close not to.
I do view UGA as a rival, but I do not hate them. Sanford is a beautiful stadium and your program is very very solid. Pre-season number one.
On paper, we shouldn't win, but that is why they play the game. I hope its a good one and no one gets hurt.

I've been in Columbia since 2008. Just in time for Spurrier's run at SC. They were insufferable and have become my #1 most hated. Followed by Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn.

We don’t like Georgia, but that mostly stems from the 80s when we played every year. That was quite a rivalry. The proximity makes it a natural rivalry of sorts.
I think for most Clemson fans, the dislike from Georgia comes from the close and competitive series in the 80s as well as our general dislike for all things SEC. The fact that Georgia has been so dominant lately doesn’t help the Bulldogs’ cause with us either.
We absolutely hate SC a lot more though.

I think it goes back to the games where they were decided by a field goal almost every time. UGAY, unfortunately, had a better field goal kicker than we did most of the time. Obed Ariri was ours at one time during this stretch I believe but I could be wrong.

That said, I think UGa has the most vile and repugnant fans in all of college football and it really isn't close.
I also think Kirby Smart is a low life SOS who doesn't give a rats rump about anything but winning. Arrests, a toxic culture, and graduation rates more than support that contention.

When you lose to a team so rarely on the field, its hard to really care that much. Until their fans start running their ignorant mouths anyway. UGA fans are pretty similar on a trashy scale, but at least they can back up their BS with actual on field results. The fact that they have so many arrests and thugs, and its pretty common knowledge they were buying players even before it was essentially legal makes it pretty easy to hate the program as a whole.

Also, a lot of Clemson alumni end up in Atlanta area where most everyone is a dog fan even if they couldn't find Athens on a map. Not many a coot fans around so the annoyance aka hatred of Georgia develops. Now that I moved to North Myrtle it's the opposite and coot fans annoy me.

I’m a Clemson fan and I hate UGA more than the chickens. My grandfather was a drum major for the Tiger Band in the 60’s. When they traveled to Athens the fans threw bricks and rocks at the band bus, busting out windows and hitting band members.
He told me never to go to Athens. When UGA came to Clemson in 2013 or 2014, a group of UGA students(drunk) were talking #### and one of the little soft frat boys pushed me an called me a #####, just because I had Clemson gear on. I hit him once and he crumbled like a paper bag.

I don't think so.
Clemson fans hate South Carolina more for one simple reason: The Gamecocks have an Alabama mouth with a Mississippi St. trophy case. There's nothing worse than acting like you're a "big time" football program when you don't have any hardware.
There's ZERO respect for their program among Clemson fans. Gamecocks are the ultimate posers.

I would say that of the two Georgia is the team I’d most like to beat but that USuC is the team I’d least want to lose to. Beating Georgia is an accomplishment. Losing to USuC is an embarrassment.

I think part of the issue is that Clemson and Jawja play each other maybe twice every ten years so we don’t get a lot of chances to play. Combine that with the close proximity and you have a tinder box waiting to explode when we do have a game on the calendar. And keep In mind both teams’ recent success in winning Nattys so you have some chest thumping going on as well. This all makes for a solid rivalry.

There are a fair amount of Clemson fans that pull for UGA outside of when they’re playing Clemson. Many like myself have loads of family that went there and are more or less obligated to pull for them. I have two dresser drawers full of Clemson stuff and one drawer for UGA gear. We don’t post on here because the resident torch wielding villagers would hurl an endless amount of ignorance at us. Love seeing you guys here, keep it up.
