Lane is a master at timing his extension and pay increases.
He is often part of coaching rumors …like a few years back when (not sure if ever any truth) - Auburn was rumored to be interested. Boom - pay increase.
And yes - Bama wins brought a lot of goodwill. Especially back then when Ole Miss was the only team beating them in the regular season.
Now they are at least relevant to a degree each year ending up in the top 15 by year end it seems. He has the safest job right now in that confeeence.

Not a fan of beamer but he seems to be a good coach in terms of commanding his players attention and loyalty. He ain't the smartest cookie but he has some real dumb money to work with and is making the best of it.
He will be dangerous year over year.
