Reed has extreme confidence in his FTs.
That said, you don’t do that crap. Takes away the momentum of the game and makes Reed think about things. Just let him shoot his FT when he’s naturally ready to take it. GT got a free TO on the out of bounds call. Use that time to draw up your strategy, Brad!

He also could have missed if the TO wasn’t called. You could complain the other way .Leave the coaching to coach .Some grumble about anything regardless. He can’t make us all happy

Agree! Reed should make a FT if it is the first shot of the day. It is a free throw guys not a 50 yard field goal.

You are correct, and he is usually an excellent FT shooter, but I think he should have let him go ahead and shoot them in the flow of the game. But then again, I sit on a couch and watch basketball. He could have just as easily made it after the timeout I guess.

1 and 1 had something to do with it. Maybe he wanted to remind his team several things for the fast break in case he missed. Reed shooting 93% so Brownell probably felt like he’d hit it either way

The defense off the miss and no foul were directly related to the TO. We have often had no guys on the lane when Reed is shooting late in games- we came out of the TO with 4 guys there and executed a perfect trap to make it impossible for GT to get a shot off- great coaching IMO. Coaches don't worry about icing 90% shooters

I don't care if he asked . .

Reed or not, you don't do that. Let him make the free throw, then call a time out if needed. Or . . have them prepared to know what to do. I wouldn't have iced my own player regardless. I mean, what is he going to say? That all being said, we won. And I'll take it.
