Nor do I, but in a way, I wish they were ranked in the top 4. That may seem odd for a former Clemson Tiger, but if coots are ranked high, we look even better when we stomp a mudhole in their sorry arses and walk it dry. Regardless of what we think, beating a better ranked coot team makes us look better. That said, it won't happen. Coots drop even farther down the drain before we get to stomp on their sorry feathered covered sorry arses.

based on that there is no path for us to get in

Nov 8, 2022, 7:38 PM

which is a good thing..dont want to bet boat raced int he playoffs...if tcu loses then a one loss sec team will get in...so you have the sec champ, big champ and pac 12 champ...then a one loss tcu big 12 champ competing with a tennsesse or lsu to get in

We win acc and probably get matched up with first sec left out.. so we need to get things figured out or we will get embarrassed come bowl time

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yep...lsu or bama is my guess***

I don't disagree. We are not the elite team we were a short time ago, but that said, we're better than most pundits think. We need to use this to build a real dynamo that surprises those wannabe pundits, however. Nothing suits me better than to stick a fork in idiots like the voice with the huge ears, Paul Feinbaum, who repeats what he has been told over and over, as to how great the secheat is.

We certainly do need to work out the issues we have. Hopefully, that will send a message to Dabo not to put the "All-In Chips" on the nose of the most popular, but, instead, on the real guy who can lead this great Clemson team to the top of the "Championship Mountain". DJ wasn't that guy, though I'm certain a great guy, just not "The Guy". That "Guy" still is out there, and we need him to help bring us back to the "Promised Land". Let's move forward and wholeheartedly support our Clemson Tigers. No matter what happens from here on out, lets show that 100% support for our Tigers.

Nov 9, 2022, 8:30 AM [ in reply to Re: based on that there is no path for us to get in ]

As we learned from SEC over and over again, in a non CFP bowl game we could always claim we “didn’t want to be there” if it goes bad for us.

Quite the opposite -10th puts us in position with just

3 or 4 teams losing. We have to win them all obviously but we will pass every 1 loss or worse non-champ if we win out -history with the BCS shows that. The only possibility of anything changing there would be UT as they are the strongest case ever to buck history. That history and the value given to conference championships is why our chances are like 75% by winning out according to the predictor model. TCU will probably lose. Michigan will not have enough SOS to beat anybody out with a loss to OSU. The Pac-12 and UT is where it gets dicey but you could have a USC champ that loses to ND. UCLA could stir things up. Some of those teams will probably lose the next couple weeks. It’s still pretty early in the rankings - there has always been chaos. I don’t think we could put up much of a fight in the playoffs but doubt most 4 seeds will. The semis rarely produce good games - UGA-OU in 2017/2018 game and CU-OSU in 2019/2020 game being the exceptions that come to mind. I’d put our odds at 50/50 vs 74% that the predictor says with us winning out but that’s still pretty high and honestly I’d rather make the playoff and lose to UGA than play Bama in the Orange Bowl

Wow. To listen to this thread, why don’t we just run up the white flag. We’ve got no chance against anyone.

What a bunch of morons.

You can’t lose this late in the season and lose to a 3 loss team.

Especially when you look at those three teams.

This will sound weird: "E(SEC)PN" is too high on our chances

Nov 8, 2022, 8:30 PM

If we win out, there is no way we have a 74% chance of making the CFP. I'm almost certain the committee has written us off.

My question at this point: Do we really want to sneak in at #4 and get murdered by UGA? Probably so, but I'm torn.

Might be better for us to be in one of the big 6 bowl games and beat somebody.

Thoughts anyone? What is best for the program going forward?

Agree, if we play like we did at Notre Dame, we will get embarrassed in the Playoffs.
Better off in the Orange Bowl, probably against Alabama, LSU, or Tennessee.
We have to step up our Offense, or we end up with a lousy season…..

Go Tigers, Beat Louisville!

Re: This will sound weird: "E(SEC)PN" is too high on our chances

Nov 8, 2022, 9:13 PM

2 things here, first if we win out, we are in. No 12-1 Champ has been left out of the CFP for a non champ. So if TCU, Oregon, USC, all lose 1 we are guaranteed a spot. If we go head to head with TCU for the last spot we are in. If TCU is undefeated with Georgia and Ohio St/Michigan and it comes down to Oregon Clemson that will be very interesting. 2 if we make it this team can beat anyone in the country. We just have to have all 3 facets play well at once. The world doesn't end of Clemson doesn't make the playoffs but if it's a choice we need to make it, because everytime we have nobody gave us a chance to win it and we have been in the championship game 4/6 times. No reason this season has to be any different. Go Tigers!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, LSU has lost two games, not one!***

The CFP ranks us spots ahead of AP/Coaches, our schedule....

Nov 9, 2022, 12:15 AM

is holding up decently well. Lost Wake & Cuse this week from the top 25...but now FSU is in and Notre Dame is now in too. N.C. State shot back up. I think Wake, Cuse, and now Louisville are top 30-40 type teams....if Wake rebounds, they could sneak back in.
I figured we would be at 10 (rather than 12 like the media had us). It's about right when you look at the whole picture.
Not sure how much we will climb, as that clearly depends on what others do.
We may stay at 10 for a while. I could see teams swapping ahead and behind us (if Ole Miss beats Bama for instance, they would jump us, but Bama would fall behind us....same with UCLA/USC).
Any chaos moves us forward.

In any case...main thing is to get back out there and beat Louisville and keep the home win streak in tact....clinch the division outright...play better football, etc.

Our issue is very clear - we made inbred coaching decisions on our coaching staff at every level - Streeter, Godwin, Spiller, Boyd, and many others. All very good people but not good coaches. Frankly…. Dabo is not a good coach. He is a great CEO of a college football program. He has never been in the weeds enough to know this from how he got appointed to this position. I hope his ego and humility will understand and recognize this.

I really worry that Dabo‘s ego gets in the way of what’s really going on right now. He constantly discusses or quotes our past success and this is a new world. He seems to be in denial.

About what I expected. If the ND game was competitive, we maybe would be 7th, but the beat down allowed Bama, So Cal and LSU in front. Obviously Michigan’s TCU we’re going to jump us.

Re: TNET: Clemson's ranking falls in latest College Football Playoff poll after first loss

Nov 9, 2022, 7:33 AM

I'm not concerned about making the CFP at this point. Glad we got the committee's respect at #10. If we are who we thought we were as a program, we'll find a way to win out, even if it's not pretty, and return as ACC champions. The pieces just aren't there, and the new coaching staff is showing their inexperience. I'll be very happy with 12-1 and a New Year's Six bid. Got Tigers!

Nov 9, 2022, 8:26 AM

Hear what you're saying. I would too like to finish 13-1. But we do have a path. Tcu can lose a couple... then they're out. ND could beat so cal last game and finish 9-3. Yes, we're dependent on chaos. But Oregon could lose again too.

We would jump Bama and lsu if they don't win conference. That leaves uga, Tennessee, and b1g. We could slip into that 4th spot. Getting back to cfp would be huge.

Just win out and then let the popularity trial occur. I expect UGa. and OSU to be the only undefeated teams left by the 1st Sunday in December. If Texas plays the whole game this weekend like they played for the first half against 'Bama, they will beat TCU.

As proud as I am to see it I'm surprised we're in the top 10. I appreciate the respect the committee gives Clemson but I am also a realist. In our present state, do I believe we can beat ol' Miss, UCLA, Utah, or Penn State? I definitely have reservations. That in no way diminishes my love for the Tigers. I think we can definitely win out. Go Tigers!
