Bama and the eye test let's take a look shall we?

Bama opens the season on a neutral field (Bama never plays a Power 5 team on their home field) against a now unranked Wisconsin. They win the game 35-17 not a bad win, but nothing to write home about either.
Bama plays Middle Tenn at home and gets a 35-10 win, again nothing great here.
Bama plays Ole Miss and loses 37-43, at the time it looks like a good loss whatever that is, but now Ole Miss has two losses one to Memphis and is now #19. Not a very good home loss, really it is a bad home loss.
Bama plays ULM and wins 34 to 0. Nothing learned here its ULM.
Bama goes on their first true road game to Georgia and win 38 to 10. The day after this looks like a great win over a top 10 team, but now Georgia is unranked with a loss to Tenn and a 9 to 3 win over Mizzu.
Bama is at home again to play Ark and they win 27 to 14. Not a very impressive showing if your an elite football team.
Bama goes on the road for theri second road test at Texas A&M. Bama wins 41 to 23, and this looks like a good win against a top 15 team. But wait that same A&M team gets beat by the team that was blown out by Memphis. A&M is no longer ranked, so no longer a signature win.
Bama at home again to play Tenn, and get the win over a 4 loss Tenn 19 to 14. Tenn misses 4 very makeable field goals. Not a very good win.
Bama gets a week off before facing LSU at home, then on the road to Miss State, then home to Charleston Southern, and closing out the year at Auburn. Bama plays two more ranked teams #5 LSU at home and #25 Miss State on the road. After week 8 Bama will play 3 ranked teams all season and they have lost to the only ranked team they have played to date Ole' Miss at home, that's #19 Ole Miss.
So I ask anyone how does Bama pass the eye test as one of the top 4 teams in the country?

Will the committee actually break it down the same way or rely on the myth that they are good wins because it's an SEC schedule

Well I will assume everyone on the committee is smarter than me, and will have far more resources than I do. So I would think they will reach the same or very close to the same conclusion.

Nice eye test. Now maybe you need to take one. Bama is 7th in both the AP,and the Coaches Poll, not #4. #4 would be LSU.

The real poll doesn't come out until Nov. 3, 2015 and every sports caster I have heard on radio or TV says Bama is a top 4 team. So that is why I asked the question.

Why do signature wins get downplayed as the season goes on?
If a team were ranked 5 when you played them, they were ranked 5.
ND was 6 at the time and we beat them. What happens later is on them, not us.
Not trolling, I guess the question is why is the winner "punished" for beating a team that slides later?

Well if the team you beat was undefeated and #6 when you played them, then went own to lose 4 more games was it really a win over the #6 team?
Look at South Carolina a few years ago they were #6, but finished the season 6 and 6 so were they the #6 team? Or the unranked loser they are?

much as later on. Just look at last year. The coots were what,#6, when they played TAMU and got whacked. Turns out, the coots were not good at all last year. And, once again this year, even after all the beat downs in the bowl games, ESPN threw out enough propoganda to get all of the West teams ranked very high.

Because early season rankings are worthless...they are opinion. Do you want to argue that a win over Auburn is a marquee win? They were ranked 6th to start the season, so signature win by LSU, right? Mississippi State too or no, because Auburn had already lost? Arkansas has a signature win by this logic. I think not--fairly obvious Auburn was over rated to start the season.
Same with Georgia Tech...signature win by ND? Yes, at the time...not now. Good loss by FSU b/c GT is signature win for ND? Not even close...terrible loss by FSU, so how can it still be a signature win for ND?
Again, early season rankings are stupid--no one really knows who will be good or bad in college football. So, you can't hang your hat on a signature win when we all come to find out that team was a fraud.
So, Notre Dame as an example...that is still a signature win as they haven't lost another game. If they lose to Temple, that takes a little away from our win. Still a big win, still a fun game, etc, etc, but at the end of the year of ND is 11-1 vs 10-2 or 93...how can that not matter?
I think his point is fairly valid--every time we think Bama has beaten a 'good' team (or in case of Ole Miss, lost to a 'good' team), that team has shown that they were a bit flawed.

etc, then it does matter. If they are really a good team, then not so much. Like I have said before, the rankings should start where they finish and not allow all the crappy bowl-losing SEC teams to be ranked highly so that beating them means something.

Very well done. I'm sold...Bama's resume is not all that, and you have presented solid, factual information to support your argument. The big issue is that ESPiN is not concerned with fact based arguments. If the argument doesn't support their SEC homerism, they just pretend not to hear it, lile a grandpa that doesn't want to hear grandma's b!+chin any more.
I agree with you rhettm. Keep fighting the good fight!

I think what you just did may be against the law in the college football world. You better be on the lookout for the ESPN guy with the baseball bat hanging around your driveway waiting for you. I agree with you 100%. They may could beat us, but they ain't all that from what I've seen.

I'm taking the risk and making a list...

There's a couple things you didn't drive home.
1. Arkansas lost to Toledo at home. Arkansas would not be competitive in either division of the ACC.
2. Au needed a muffed punt to beat Jacksonville St at home.
3. Bama fails the 'eye test,' because they are one dimensional, they couldn't pass their way out of a paper bag. Stop the run, shut Bama down completely.
4. Eye test definition: When you just know something is right without evidence. Some call it faith, ESPiN and other SEC lackys call it the eye test.
5. The entire SEC schedule is weak as water.
6. ESPiN's and the SEC's numbers are in the chitter, join me in delight.
7. The coots are getting what they deserve and so is Clemson, the world is a delightful place again.

Their QB sucks, they lost to Ole Miss (who lost to Memphis), barely beat UT, and will lose to LSU.
Note to Bama: you have to play your way into Championship game now. No more redo games like LSU in 2011. No more setups like ND in '12. This goes for your whole conference. BCS is over.

The best teams by far are Bama and LSU and both of them have major liabilities at the QB position. If one of them happens to make the playoffs and that is a big IF, I think they get blown out by either us or Ohio State.
