Would Florida come after Dabo?

Nov 24, 2013, 10:48 PM

Muschamp has signed his own death certificate at UF after yesterday's embarrassment. UF will go after someone with HC experience, and would Dabo be on that short list? With the success he's had at Clemson, it's not too farfetched that they might come calling, considering UF has a larger fanbase, more potential money, and is definitely one of the top ten jobs in the country. And, of course, they play in the mighty, media rich SEC. As Dabo is considered one of the top recruiters in all of college football, this would put him right in the middle of one of the talent goldmine states.

I think everyone will go after Dabo. He will say NO

Nov 24, 2013, 10:49 PM

or heck no.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe he'll say

Nov 24, 2013, 11:05 PM

c r a p no.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not saying it couldn't happen

Nov 24, 2013, 10:52 PM

But I really doubt it.
I agree that muschamp is gone. I just think Dabo really loves Clemson and what he has going here. I also think he has proven that money isn't a factor. I'd say the only job that's a no brainer for Dabo to leave would be if Alabama ever called his name.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

For some reason, I think Muschamp gets one more year.***

If so, he better win at least 9 or he'll be

Coaching at Arkansas State or LA Tech or Florida A&M

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

For me it's an easy and obvious reason. His recruiting.

Nov 24, 2013, 10:59 PM [ in reply to For some reason, I think Muschamp gets one more year.*** ]

He has done a pretty good job 2 years in a row and I expect he will be given one more chance to prove he can develop talent. You can't put all the fault at his feet about talent issues this season no matter what the 'professional' sports talking heads say. Injuries are injuries.

Yes, this is one mega-embarrassing season for them. So he probably gets only one more. And if it starts up lousy, he could be a walking corpse pretty early.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

true, but- that's a hard situation to recruit into , thus

making it hard to get any momentum going forward. sometimes, it's better to just go ahead and bite the bullet now and move on.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Aside from the fact that he probably isn't interested,

Nov 24, 2013, 10:57 PM

why wouldn't anybody come after Dabo?

To answer your question.......nobody has come after him yet so why is this year different?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nobody, not even the team Otis spurrier loves, wants him

Nov 24, 2013, 11:02 PM

That must hurt an old man like him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Nobody, not even the team Otis spurrier loves, wants him

Nov 24, 2013, 11:05 PM

No one else has tried to lure him away. Why would. Florida?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I absolutely agree, no one has tried to lure him away

Nov 25, 2013, 12:58 AM [ in reply to Re: Aside from the fact that he probably isn't interested, ]

Especially if he keeps up our level of success and recruiting if Chad Morris leaves.

In comparison, how about we talk about all the schools that rejected Slurrier. Want to talk about a coach no schools worth mentioning want, thats why hes at USuC...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Muschamp is good for another year.

Nov 24, 2013, 11:02 PM

But the pressure on him to take all the talent he inherited plus all the talent he has recruited in his two years will be HUGE next season. Even if they do relatively well, if there aren't key in state wins and especially enough SEC wins (all but 1 maybe?), he may still be toast. But I think he gets a pass this year.

It's not like they've had 2 lousy years in his 2 years at HC. Not yet, anyway. But 2 lousy out of 3 is a sure career ending situation for him in Gainesville I'd bet.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Did he really inherit much talent?

Nov 24, 2013, 11:16 PM

Myer wanted out of there for a reason. He didn't stay gone long enough for that health B.S. to hold water.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, they did well last year with Louisville exception

Nov 25, 2013, 12:23 AM

And most of that talent wasn't recruited by Muschamp. I'm not saying they were loaded to the gills, but they weren't shallow either.

Re: Not if they serious about winning

One of those pansy spreads that half the teams in the NFL are using now.

You need to go sit in the corner and learn how not to be a moron before you post.

I don't think that's gonna help him, but I can direct him

If Fla is smart, they'll go after Charlie Strong**************

He's already paid almost 1 mil more than Muschamp

Nov 24, 2013, 11:35 PM

Louisville made sure only those willing to pay big, big bucks would come after Strong.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Really?

Nov 25, 2013, 12:43 AM

No team has ever come after Dabo, do you really think Fl would? Seems a bit farfetched. He's done great at Clemson. Led the Tigers to their greatest stretch in school history right? But do other programs view dabo's success in the ACC the same as the tiger faithful?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I remember as a kid when went after Florida Charlie Pell and

Nov 25, 2013, 3:07 AM

we got Danny Ford. Pell didn't think he could win a NC at Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Florida wouldn't make sense because it would be a lateral

Nov 25, 2013, 4:50 AM

move. Bama would be the only program that would be a logical move, but Dabo or most coaches for that matter wouldn't want it immediately after Saban left because of the pressure and immediate expectations. Bama would probably want a coach with a National Championship on his resume IMO. Dabo is too settled in and established at Clemson to go any time soon.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well the SEC does come after ACC talent often...look at Bama

Re: Would Florida come after Dabo?

Nov 25, 2013, 10:09 AM

Right now #6 Clemson is a much better job than 4-7 Florida. Plus the road to a NC is much easier at Clemson year in and year out. If they come calling, he will listen and say no thank you.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Perhaps, If he could beat the Gamecocks

Nov 25, 2013, 10:19 AM

His record against SEC opponents would be a factor.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ABSOLUTELY NOT ....

Nov 25, 2013, 12:50 PM

FLORIDA WOULD BE A STEPDOWN FROJM CLEMSON.

No way he leaves Clemson for Florida.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Would Florida come after Dabo?

Nov 25, 2013, 12:53 PM

Tim Brando said on his show this AM that their AD says he's sticking with Muschamp. We'll see if that happens after they get killed by FSU this weekend. Brando also said likely the entire Offensive staff is gone (if this hold true).

The REAL question is, given that scenario, is do they make a run after not Dabo, but Morris.

Re: Would Florida come after Dabo?

Nov 25, 2013, 12:57 PM [ in reply to Re: Would Florida come after Dabo? ]

I don't know why they wouldn't make a run at Morris, but even if they do I doubt they get him. His system is firmly in place here. He has a talented roster that he recruited specifically for his system. He is the best paid OC in the country. His star has been rising and will continue to rise at Clemson till he leaves for a HC job.

If he goes to Florida he inherits a roster that is questionable, and doesn't have a QB that would even be on the roster at Clemson. He would have to install his system, which generally takes a year to get in place. I doubt they are willing to pay him much more than we are.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"He is the best paid OC in the country."

Nov 25, 2013, 1:03 PM

^^^ Ultimately, I think that is your answer.

Also doesn't he have in his contract, that he can only leave for a HC job (not a OC Job?)

Florida went the former DC route with Muschamp. I doubt the repeat the experience with an OC.
