That's right, but be prepared for some of the hired guns who don't shoot very well. It's terrible when you hire mercenaries who can't shoot.......

Since Brad and staff aren't really into, or capable of, development and retention of homegrown commits - apparently yes. You have this right.

Wrong. Hunter Tyson, PJ Hall, Chase Hunter, Ian Schieffelin all played their entire careers at Clemson. Check your facts before swilling Jim Beam and approaching the keyboard. And as for ripping Coach Brownell about the departures, this is college basketball 2025. And honestly only one of the departures to date was going to play significant minutes next season. And one of the departures played at four different high schools. You and your goober friends need to get off Coach Brownell's back and be more supportive instead of constantly ripping the program with junior high humor.

I’d love to further this conversation, but you have a body of work. You’ve lashed out in your lunatic fringe petulance so often, it’s difficult to take you seriously.
I understand from others in our TNet community that you l’ve given a lot to the university. If that’s true, it’s commendable.
My post is based on reality as I view it for Clemson and on a much greater scale throughout college athletics.
“This is college basketball 2025.” -True, and that’s the point you miss in your lashing anger and indignation. It’s transactional. We have a transactional team that makes transactional business decisions on a yearly basis. That makes for transactional fandom.
Build commitment into the reward system make it attached to academics and it will pay dividends to the players(students) and fans. Now back to swilling my Jim Beam.

Based on available information on Sports Reference only 2 teams in the ACC have ever returned anything close to as little productivity as we’ll be returning next year:

Yes - is Brad better than Pat Kelsey? If he’s better in the way he’s better than Mike Young expect him to even the series in 6 years while Louisville wins at least one ACC championship.

From 2018 - 2023 we brought in 28 players.

Your list plus transfers Galloway and Girard, who exhausted their eligibility here for a single year each, equals 7 players through those 6 years. We've already lost 2 of 4 HS recruits from the '24 class.
Sorry but development and retention are glaring weaknesses, 2025 or not. You clearly don't give a rat's behind about that which is your choice. I am hopeful like you that Brad will crush it in the portal replacing 80% of our contributions from this season and do the same the year after, and the year after that, and so on, because they sure ain't sticking around otherwise.
Go Tigers!

unfortunately.
If you want team loyalty/longevity, you gotta watch NFL/NBA/MLB where guys are under 4 year contracts.

The entire sport is ruined. As long as players can transfer freely

an unlimited amount of times, this is what we're going to get.
In my opinion, players should be able to transfer one time without incurring the penalty of having to sit out a season.
You can have some waivers (coach changes, family hardship, etc.), but as long as there is NIL and no contracts, every team is going to try to maximize their roster each year.
With that said, Brownell has done quite well in this new era. I don't find the sport as enjoyable to follow, but we rarely made the NCAA Tournament previously. We made an Elite 8 last year, and we easily made the Tournament this year. Yes, we had a terrible showing, but Brownell has shown he's a much better coach with the portal at his disposal.

Structured contracts would be a good start towards fixing some of this. The commitment means something again.

This is college basketball now. The choice is yours if you want to continue your clemson basketball fandom.
I personally love seeing players staying at the school they choose out of high school, but this portal stuff certainly makes the offseason entertaining.

Yes. For 15 years BrownL has demonstrated he can't recruit or develop players.

So for us to continue to lose big games, make early exits in the ACC and NCAA tourneys and really not elevate Tiger basketball beyond Ellis, Barnes and Purnell despite both time and a significantly weaker ACC, we must cheer for off-brand no-names who decide to be 5th year seniors and grad students with BrownL further hindering player development and continuity.

You have 5 awesome freshman and 2 returning players, then you add some transfers like we did even last year, and it is still amazing. I think it's an extremely exciting time for basketball and I am personally excited to watch this team next year. We may even be better come tournament time. It should be a fun few years coming up.

How hard is it to root for the guys wearing a Clemson jersey? I don't get having to approve where he came from or how long he stays or how many other schools he's played for. And this repetitive nonsense about losing big games. What were Kentucky, Duke and UNC? I think you mean losing any games
