If not, why? We recruited him out of high school and he seems to be a no drama player. Come on Dabo, I know he will be a one and done for somebody. Should have pursued the CB out of Va.

Have not heard anything about him besides he maybe looking at Oregon. Believe he is looking for a payday and could not get it at SC. Not like he was sitting the bench down there so that’s all I can come up with.

How do we as fans know if we pursued the CB or not? Do the coaches tell us they tried and it didn’t work out? For high school recruits I check out who we’ve offered on rivals but I didn’t know if we could do that for the portal players.

I say this without knowing the scholarship breakdown but my guess is we won’t pursue JB and we didn’t pursue the CB.
With XT and Mascoll coming back along with Sheridan Jones deciding to stay I don’t think we have the scholarships and we all know Dabo won’t process any kid (which I agree). It’s unfortunate because we miss on talent potentially but scholarship limit is the limit. Maybe the answer is hold a scholarship or two instead of these fallback late offer guys which is a separate risk to depth but maybe worth it.

The inn is full and we're already over scholarship limits.
Besides, the top free agents...I mean portal targets are looking for a payday and/or already know where they are headed. Dabo ain't playing the "pay to play" game/bidding wars and I lose no sleep over that.
If we do sign a top portal player with Dabo anytime soon I'll be surprised because it means the player legit wasn't necessarily looking for a guaranteed payday or starting spot but until we get some sort of regulation for the portal/NIL ties (aka bidding wars) I doubt we sign any big time portal players.

Mafah is already on the team -- a little bit different than getting someone out the portal that we aren't entirely familiar with.
That said, Idk what all happened with Mafah (or whomever the NIL deal happened with) and as far as I know no one here has all the details either unless you wanna tell us the whole thing.
