Are any other tnetters into Falconry?

I have a 4 year old Osprey named Kevin I use to rid my property of vermin, like squirrels, mice, and neighborhood cats. I also like to take Kevin fishing in hope that he will fill my live-well with Mullet, but he is terrible at fishing and does not like to get in the water.
Do any other Tnetters, preferably real Clemson fans, have experience here?
any advice from fellow man fishermen would be appreciated., Thanks

No, but the first guy that flew the falcon in Atlanta moved to my hometown. His falcon had died so he moved on. He had some very humorous stories about that falcon. You may be able to talk FM into diving for mullet for you. Please don't hold his head underwater for more than 5 minutes.

Did you get Kevin a wet suit? I found it to work well with my Osprey Haywood. He wouldn’t go near the water until I got him that. Now he’s a fishing machine. The key is to get him the wt suit that looks exactly like him. Haywood even made it on Netflix.

If you can't even keep your robotic dog alive for more than 2 weeks then falconry might not be the hobby for you.

....then I am afraid the money is long gone. He went on a drinking binge out on Isle of Palms for about a week. We found him hanging by his tail on a light post just a couple of days ago with a bunch of spent prophylatics on the ground around him.

Well I can’t blame him for that. Sounds like he had a great time. I actually feel good, kind of like I paid it forward so he could enjoy some free time.

I've neva heard of spanking the monkey with a prophylactic on. Seems that would take away some of the purpose, you know like taking a shower with a raincoat on.......I think

But I found this baby eagle in my attic last summer. I have been feeding it Vienna sausages. I think it must be a male as it has not started laying eggs yet.

.....but that is not an Eagle. It is more than likely the dreaded hooded flying snipe. My crazy uncle on Wadmalaw Island used to get drunk and take us out hunting for those things on Saturday nights.

Back in the 90’s we were tailgating at a Falcons/Saints game in the Gulch near the Georgia Dome. It was a miserable morning so cold we decided to sit in the car with the heater running. About 50 feet away a large group of guys were enduring the weather and had the grill going. Right in front of us a pigeon in flight was absolutely destroyed by a heat seeking missile aka a Falcon. We found out later a nesting pair of Falcons had taken up residence on the ledge of a high rise building in downtown Atlanta. The Falcon landed on top of a light pole, bit the head off the pigeon, and spit it out which landed on the grill of the group in front of us tailgating. One of the craziest things I have ever witnessed.

My friend has several hawks which are also fairly water-averse.
She ties a long piece of fishing line to a mouse’s leg and puts a little beetle spin jig on the other end. She turns the mouse loose along the edge of the lake and lets it meander along the bank while the lure trails in the shallows behind it. My friend watches for a bass to attack the lure, then turns her hawk loose to go catch the mouse, which brings in the hooked bass as well.
It’s quite a spectacle collecting a hawk, then a rodent, then a big ol’ lunker from a jon boat.
