Wish we could have seen him in a meaningful game to know.

I think he should at least be used as a change of pace back. There are times when teams zero in on Mafah. Need to utilize Haynes some to change it up. Even if he himself doesn’t produce much, it can change up the looks.

As good as of a player as Spiller was, he’s been about as poor of a coach. He hasn’t recruited and developed a single, legit RB in the 4 years he’s been here. Mafah was an Elliott recruit. Spiller has struck out over and over on the recruiting front. We have to hope Davidson is ready to go in year 1. That’s inexcusable anywhere, much less at a program that aims to win championships.

Clearly, we don’t believe Haynes and Ediozume are ready as our coaches have leaned on Mafah more than we ever leaned on Gallman, Etienne, or Shipley.

Special teams coaching has been atrocious for years, in the past it was masked by individually talented kickers and punters, but it has always been an Achilles heel.

For last three seasons it has cost us big time in big games:

2022: Notre Dame (blocked punt td) Coots ( fumbles at critical moments on kickoff and punt returns)

2023:
Last year lack of FG kicking costs us the FSU and the Duke games

2024:
Costs us Louisville
