Any one of the top 12 can get hot in January and win the CFP

This is why I don't like the play-off. It negates the importance of the regular season.

This is why I don't like the Baseball Post Season. Totally negates 162 games. Why play thousands of games only to see an 88 win team in the World Series? Let's see....I wonder if $ has anything to do with it. Same for college football. Same for every sport. GoooooTigers!!!!!!!!!

This is a very liberal approach… can’t get in with the current rules then change the rules. It’s sport’s version of packing the Supreme Court.

That just waters down the regular season.

Consider conference championship games a part of the CFP. Win and you're in.

Not if they structure it right...

Eight total teams.
The conference champions from each of the five power 5 conferences are automatic qualifiers.
Three at-large teams which takes care of Notre Dame and the Group of Five schools.
No conference can have more than two teams represented.

I don't know. Nothing more exciting than winning a Power 5 conference then playing a Group of 5 school in first round of the playoff. What a letdown.

This is EXACTLY why the three conferences "aligned". If there is any crack in the ranks, the SEC will get their wish of a 12-team playoff. By standing together, 3 of the 5 conferences can prevent the SEC from driving decisions.

Everybody is a sucker! Why do you think they floated a 12 team playoff? So you could feel like they were “preserving”college football when they expanded to 8. I think back through all my years following the game and never once did I say “You know that 8th ranked team really deserved to win the Natty” much less #5, 6, or 7. Rarely would you give #4 any legitimacy if it hadn’t been for #5 Notre Dame beating #1 Texas and getting all the pollsters love or Tom Osborne going for two to beat #5 Miami instead of the tie in the Orange Bowl before they could match up 1 vs 2.
