Another perspective of Bakich!

I think an argument can be made that he did an outstanding job this year, based on the number of injured pitchers and the overall average talent this team has. This is in no way to disparage any young man on this team, but we are pretty much loaded with a group of average players. Arguably our best player, Cam Canarella can't throw, and I am not sure that he has thrown out a batter this year on any base, probably has, just don't remember it. Our portal guys, quite frankly, have been a disappointment, particularly Luke and Colin, as I think much more was expected. The rest of our position players are nice players many of whom would not start on many other top D1 teams. Agree or disagree, but no reason to mad, frustrated maybe, but that is just the way I see it.

Isn’t the coach responsible for assembling that team? If there is a lack of talent doesn’t a coach own that?

There are over 300 D1 baseball teams. Believe it or not there are players who want to go to other schools for many reasons, including financial aid, or love of the university. Bakich I think is getting the best players he can. What is he supposed to do when he can't get every player he wants. Remember, some of the better players he recruits and gets a commitment for turn pro.

So, no, you say the coach isn’t responsible for the talent on his team. "What’s he supposed to do?"

That's it in a nutshell. And Clemson is expensive even with a quarter scholarship, or a half scholarship. Especially for out of state. Can't control the injuries. What I would ask though, is how come a coastal Carolina get good? Development better? Are they recruiting at a higher level?

Losing and winning in any sport is in the MIND. Clemson doesn't believe it can win against top tier teams. This the responsibility of the Head Coach. Learn how to MOTIVATE players.

Do you think Jack Leggett is allowed back and retires? Seeing some of the same problems before he was forced out as HC...?

So now it's Jack Leggett's fault too! Let's face it ..... we are playing like crud ...... probably lost this game in the 8th inning last night. Not fun to watch.

I told everyone on this site 3 weeks ago that Bakich is another Jack Leggett, (a day late and a dollar short coach), Kentucky is kicking their as###es in Clemson, just as West Virgnia did yesterday. Until Clemson hires a baseball coach From the SEC or the Pac 12, they won't ever get back to the CWS, let alone win a regional. Too bad Tanner (South Carolina AD) is 66, otherwise Clemson could use him, 3 consecutive CWS appearances, and straight National titles), Bakich is responsible. Make no excuses for him. Yes, Clemson is a Football school.

Exactly. What we need is more of that Monte Lee energy. I’d rather sit out the postseason back to back season than get my heart broken. Not that I did because I knew we sucked and weren’t go to go anywhere anyway. Where do I file for my elite TNetter pin?

Their record is way better than their talent level compared to other teams. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Clemson team that had 2 guys with low level double digit homeruns for the entire year . Yet still win 40+. And with only 1 true starter and 1 true closer. So kudos to Bakich for getting the most out of them but he’s gotta get it going on the substantive recruiting trail. Gotta shell out some cash for these boys.

Bakich and teamed crapped in the bed when it really mattered. Very similar to out hoops. It’s just that simple!

I have said before- don't tell us what is going to happen("we are going to be great from here on out or something like that). All you do when you run your mouth is put a noose around your neck. Just try to do your job and go play. It takes a tough nut to get off the canvas and be more determined than ever. As we always say- a team reflects the persona of their coach. We had that earlier and for whatever reasons, we lost it. Of course we need better pitching and we will attain that through recruiting. However, our mental toughness was the big factor and that's on the coaches.

What a loser fing post. You dang fans on here will find any excuse you can and you are all doing the same thing you did when monte was here. How can you excuse anything but injuries dude???? You can’t give him a pass on players not being good….. THEY are HIS players!!!!!!! He is supposed to develop them. This is the weakest fing post I’ve seen since the season ended. Our baseball fans are full of excuses and full of ####
