That way it's about 2.50 hours from Clemson & 3 hours from Tuscaloosa and it would be a packed house every year. All of the ticket & airline stress would be greatly reduced.

since 10 of the last 11 Champs are within easy driving distance of ATL, chances are almost 100% you're GONNA get a local-interest sellout.

college game - east / west sorta thing. Or a bowl game for that matter. They have a dome stadium and it's a cool place to visit for a sports fan.

Tons of cool places to visit & many are free...Big stadium stadium not getting used as I think the Blues have their own place (don't know or care about hockey). Still not much good football on the left coast on the college scene despite the talent in the Cali HS scene.

What they need to do is have the site dependent on the #1 & #2 seed geographic location. Split the difference for those schools or conference divisions footprint (if you have proper geographic divisions). Go ahead with traditional bowl pairings if specific #1 and #2 match the historic conference tie-ins.
Picking a site after the semis would be tough but the #1 & #2 would be easier a month + out. While not 100% easy as the current one, I think it would be feasible.
If the Rose Bowl keeps being left out... well tell the Pac12/aBuser10 to improve their quality of play.
But if I was lord-dictator, I would require natural surface/open air locations....
