This is a little different. 1/3 of the team is in the portal with their HC leaving, including their Top 3 QBs.

I have to wonder about the rationale of opening the portal before bowl games are completed Seems to have the feeling from the NCAA that bowl games outside of the playoffs don’t have any real value.

They would still opt out and just wait for the portal to open. Many wouldn’t want to risk injury by playing.

If I were the teams playing in the playoff games next weekend, I would ask them if loser wanted to play in it. Some teams who lose might want that bowl experience.
