An indictment against Streeter?

Serious question... but if DJU ends up being "all world" under a different system and coaching staff, is that a bad look for our OC/QB coach?

Seriously. Does it matter? IMHO Street, Dabo and DJ failed to blossom together. Look at DJ's performance and QB rankings. A fresh start should be good for all. Wish DJ the best in the future.

1. Yes it would be a bad look 2. Possible he may improve, but doubt he can be “all world} unless the new coach figures out how to keep the grass from tripping him up 3. Would not be the end of the world for Streeter. Some coach/player combos work better than others. For example, Street seems to have helped Cole Stoudt more in one month than an accomplished QD coach, Chad Morris did over a course of years. Everything is situational.

He doesn't have the athletic ability and skill set to develop the confidence he needs to perform consistently at a high level.
Streeter did a good job of getting as much as he did out of DJ.

... I do'nt think it was Streeter's fault. I think DJ just isn't very good. But woudl his success elswhere prove me wrong? not sure... Bo Nix sure did better at Oregon than Auburn. And that was more of a "system" change that propelled him.

Only if their talent is worse and in the case of our receivers I doubt it could be.

Please give it a rest. DJ is leaving and it doesn’t matter.

Does not matter. The UNC game forgave Streeter for all his past mistakes in 10 games. We are stuck with him for years to come. That is my opinion. There are many more OC's out there that have real movement in their offense and is exciting to watch. Imagine Cade and the offense having constant motion and misdirection. They would be exciting to watch and very difficult to defend.

I don't think so and here's why. When you recruit a talented QB, you have 2 choices if you don't have a perfect fit between QB and offensive scheme, change your offense to fit your QB, or help your QB adapt to the offense you want to run. In our case, I think we thought we could take a pure pocket passer and turn him into a productive RPO QB and the experiment failed with DJ.
Hence, if DJ winds up in a system that better suits him, like a West Coast-style offense, then his pure pocket passing skills can be put to better use, assuming he has the right tools around him, and he may very well find more success.
I really think this was just a bad evaluation on our part that we could help him adapt to our system and it just didn't work.

Everybody that played sports knows that certain guys just freeze up with the heat on. But next practice, he’ll be kicking butt again. So I’m pretty sure what happened was that he would make corrections during the week, then freeze up in the games - just couldn’t trust himself. My wife asked about sports psych and I assume all of them work on that aspect, but surely someone who is struggling so painfully would get some help… Why it took so long to accept this? No idea… I also wish him well, but it’s not Streeters fault that he yipped a 15 yard pass, 7 yards. DJ forced the coaches to act, planned or not.

And the converse is true. There are always guys who look just okay in practice, but really come on when the gun fires.
I suspect - don't know, just suspect - that part of the problem was that Cade was showing tendencies in practice that scared the coaching staff more than DJ did. Until the day that either the light came on for Cade, or the light for DJ finally got too dim and it changed the risk/benefit balance. That's all.
Besides the fact that even the dimmest coach knows a heck of a lot more about football than a very large percentage of us Tnetters, remember that for every 60 minutes of playing time that we see, the coaches see 1200 minutes of practice time (rough approximation based on NCAA rules).

WHY not An indictment against DJU?

If he can go somewhere else and "turn it around" that much...wouldn't one then be concerned about his motives for the many many many over and under throws he has made at Clemson? No one teaches a person to over/under throw like DJ has in two years.

There's a lot of variables that go into what makes a QB successful - coaches, O-line, WRs, RBs, offensive play calling, personal talent, work ethic, and chemistry with all of the above mentioned people. You see it all the time in the NFL - a QB performs poorly or average with one team, then gets traded to another, and takes off. And you see it in reverse, too. We were lucky to hit the lottery twice with Watson and Lawrence where everything just fit almost perfectly. We can't expect that every year and with every QB that comes through. We will, but we can't.

Was it an indictment against the Ohio St. staff when Joe Burrow won the natty at LSU?
DJ is a pro style QB. Why we went after him to run an RPO offense is beyond me. He was a square peg in a round hole.

It was Streeter's fault that he started every game and played most of it when he stunk it up continually.

As much as I am on the fence with Streeter, the answer is probably "No".
I think it has a lot more to do with DJ not being a good fit for our offensive scheme (in particular RPO). He just couldn't seem to catch on, and just couldn't get through his progressions fast enough.
He's probably a better fit in a pro-style, west coast offense.

How do you blame the OC for DJ dumping a ball at the feet of the receiver on a swing pass in the ACC championship game?
