There is a massive demand, my oldest son being one of millions

When the #### did a freaking pickup truck become some cushy, all-leather, high-tech, jacked up, massive behemoth waste of money anyway? Toyota already has a $15K truck, can't buy it here. honestly this is an amazing time and opportunity for Americans to think smaller, cheaper, and more practical. Will see.

seems pretty cool, saves a ton of money with no paint by using plastic panels you can swap out yourself in a fender bender. Everything is modular, so you can upgrade it, and fic it yourself.

I kinda like my cushy F150! I’ll wait to pass judgement on this backyard special until I see payload and towing capacities too. Real world towing has been horrendous in EV trucks. If I cannot make it to Lake Jocasse and back on a charge it is useless for my needs. Heaviest stuff I tow is a double Shorelander trailer and 2 Kawasaki Jet Skis.
Bet you cannot put a cubic yard of mulch or 1/2 bucket sand/dirt in the bed either. You know truck things?
If GMC did not have serious engine issues my ride would be a Sierra 1500, red metallic, almond leather, sunroof, X31 off-road package. Had them beat down to $54,500 out the door but could not get past engine bearing problems.

The thing is you could build a bigger truck, just as no frills

for cheap as well. There is a market for a FULL SIZE, BARE BONES, pickup truck. Like AC, radio, and roll up windows and that's about it. ####, if you left off the EV/hybrid crap, you could likely pull it off around $20K.
So while I agree this is meeting PART of a demand, it's not hitting the sweet spot.
And then you have exports. People across the world don't want American pickup trucks, or much of anything because we always shoot for the moon and sell overpriced vehicles, so we're not competitive with poorer countries (almost everyone else), as we always think bigger, better, fancier, whatever.

Just saying a bare bones Maverick is $24k . Anybody really think most of these boutique EV makers will be around in 10 years? What you gonna do for parts?

They ran a commercial for it during SNL this past Saturday...

which was a rerun and the Truck doesn't even come out until late next year or 2027, I believe. Many of us have been clamoring for the return of the "small" truck and the success of "smallish" trucks like the Maverick suggests there's a clear appetite with consumers. I'm curious to see what happens and if they can really be a disruptor in the market. A Huge question will be if the EV credits will still be there when this thing comes out, if not, then I don't think it or many EVs will survive.

Musk got Billions in Federal Subsidies under the promise he would eventually deliver a sub-25k car, he has been promising it for years. Anyway, Bezos is undercutting him here, and I think this is an underrepresented market segment. I think these will do well if the cost holds. Pre-orders are $50, so he has the cash to bring these to market.

well, there is the entire not having a 400 lb engine parked between you and the bumper thing, all the weight of the vehicle is beneath you. The rest of the car is crumple zones likely with an extra trunk in the front, again, without 400 pounds of steel crushing your legs and ending up in your lap in a front-end collision.

It has a towing capacity of 1000 lbs. Great , if you come upon a fat man on a bicycle you can tow him home! Seriously I see the appeal. I do. But that is not a truck for anyone who needs a truck.
