To have already lost the series, getting blasted in the game on the way to a sweep, and guys are doing celebrations after base hits? I get it, they are kids and the game is supposed to be fun, but losing every ACC series can’t be fun
The older guys should have a conversation and tell everyone that this has to become personal. Stop doing celebrations that you see winning programs do after big plays and showing out for the cameras, do what you’re supposed to do and get ready to do what’s next to make a winning play.
Year 1 of Bakich- I’m not ready to form an opinion on him, but getting smacked in every ACC series is just brutal. Like last week when we beat GT once out of three games and everybody was acting like that was a big win, reality needs to start setting in with some of these guys that they are getting embarrassed

Not getting swept is a big thing. Bakich inherited nothing. He has to rebuild from the ground up.

IMO, I think the hardest part of Bakich job is getting a decent rotation out of his young pitchers, but I can't agree that he inherited nothing bc there are some highly rated ball players on that team. But, if he had some really good pitchers in rotation, and a few decent guys to come in out of the bull pen, this team I do believe could compete, and a team that could reach the super regionals.
Actually, that is the type of team that most of Tiger nation thought we would have with Bakich coming in as the new HC bc most including myself thought that Monte was a terrible in game coach, but, most never thought our pitching would be as bad as it is coming into this season, we thought we were going to compete at a high level!!!!

I understand what you’re saying. And Clemson University has much higher expectations for baseball given our tradition and location. But it’s been rough to say the least this year. Coach em up the best you can and just let them play ball and try to find the happiness from it once again.
Harping on players over and over when they’re losing constantly doesn’t always help. May even worsen their morale about themselves.

You build a brick at a time. Find something to build on in any situation…good play, not giving up, not getting swept by #2..,then come back stronger.

Yes. 1/3 of the way through his first season we should declare him done as a coach and sh*t on the kids as much as humanly possible insuring that there is no hope for the future. Great strategy.

Yeah that was exactly what I did by saying how dumb it looks for guys to be celebrating base hits while losing the game and while getting swept or losing 2 out of 3 in a series

I’m responding to the totality of the thread. Our first year coach has faced the 3rd hardest schedule in the country with a completely dilapidated pitching rotation. Let’s focus on a sh*tty coach who has failed for 13 years before we even entertain the idea of speaking negatively about baseball. And, no matter how warranted, there is no benefit to pointing out how crappy our pitching is. It is not going to change next week.

Everyone bashed Leggett for having the guys play too tight. Now we’re bashing the coach for not insisting that his kids play tight while they’re losing solely for appearances.

they are losing because it is positive when we need it, it is contagious for teammates and more important when we are behind than when we are winning. Our Basketball should be more like ours baseball coach.I believe his main problem is he shows no emotion and that reflects to his players as they blow leads and lose to inferiorteams

I say let em celebrate the good things. Don’t suck the joy out of trying. ML left the program bare, then smiled as the coots beat us in the series. He knew what he left. I don’t see how he could stand in their dugout like he did. They should’ve given him MVP for that series. Anyway, I saw better play the last two games vs Wake. It’ll come together. Plus, Wake showed us why they’re #2 in the polls. They find a way to win. Hats off to them.

Hey dummy monte didn’t develop. Not hard to understand. Also the coots this year have older rotation and transfers ….not the same roster as when we swept them the year before. Do you keep up with college baseball?
