Actual quote from a GT football forum...

Oct 15, 2020, 6:59 PM

Post: “ I think this game is a good test for our players and coaches...”
Reply: “ Lets hope we studied for the test better than I did for my first test in thermodynamics.”

I’m worried I lost 10 football IQ points by reading that.

Buddy of mine is a Tech grad and told me he hopes we “don’t break them too badly.“

Ga Tech should adopt a new mascot that wears a pair of glasses with tape around the bridge and a pocket protector.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's pronounced "L Heff A" and it means "The Boss".

I had Thermo Joe

for thermodynamics in the early 70's. I had to study.

Thermo was pretty straight forward. I got it. When the final grades came out I was shocked at how badly I had done. I blame it on the first line of a Beatles song.....

She was just 17 and you know what I mean.....

is it even possible to have negative Football IQ points?

Probably. You run the triple option for a decade and trying to make them re-learn football is like, well, trying to teach a cat Mandarin. ;)

We'll see if it takes, but it'll be awhile, whatever.

Francis Marion® just likes the white stretchy pants, that is the limit of his understanding of this sport.

Dang, FM - forget "dynamics", that's downright thermonuclear! Come next Easter we can all wear orange and white again in celebration of our recent CFBNC!

Go Tigers!!!

I majored in Industrial Management, but in the 1960's we were always told by the engineering majors this heat transfer theorem....The heat of the meat is proportional to the angle of the dangle as long as the k u n t remains constant.......

Re: Actual quote from a GT football forum...

Thermodynamics is just a fancy word for "heat transfer."

Hot to cold. That's all you need to know. Heat always transfers from hot to cold. If you want it to tranfer from cold to hot, then you gotta heat up the cold side, or cool off the hot side.

(Now, can you see why I was a math major and not a physics or engineering major?)

Thermo Joe roll call..

I had him (one of his last classes taught) and my Dad had him (one of his first classes taught)...

Pretty cool to have the same Professor as your Dad...

Appropriate to mention him this week..Thermo Joe was a Georgia Tech alum...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Was he an ME professor?

Oct 16, 2020, 8:36 AM

I'm a ChemE and we had our own thermo class separate from the ME's

He was a ChE professor..His classroom and office were both in Earle Hall..

He wasn’t the only ChE professor teaching thermo of course..

I caught him in a summer session because of my co-op time...

Chemical Engineering grad here (Purdue).

I actually found Thermo to be very easy. A very difficult class for me was P-Chem even though I was better at math than most of my classmates.

Re: Actual quote from a GT football forum...

I didn't learn a thing in P-Chem. If it wasn't for one of the other guys in the class studying with me and using the exam bank from his fraternity I wouldn't have made it. We had a thermo class in Ceramic Engineering where the first day Dr Skaar told us, "We are going to learn the useful information you didn't get in P-Chem"

I always thought of thermo as applied (more practical) physical chemistry...

I enjoyed my 2nd semester of p chem better than my first (2 semesters of p chem required at Clemson)..

My first semester of p chem was taught by a notoriously dis-interested professor - I’m sure if I named him here a lot of folks would know who I was talking about...

I remember not doing well on the first Thermodynamics test

Oct 16, 2020, 8:17 AM

too, but then it clicked and I made an A.

Why do we make fun of GaTech for having so many engineers when I believe it is Clemson's largest major now too?

This game might be a challenge to my "Shots" group text. Traditionally, we take a shot for every TD scored by Clemson.

A few years ago, VS Louisville, I switched from bourbon to bourbon cream halfway through the game.
