ACCN Clemson report.

I watched the 1 hour report last night. I know that the purpose of these pieces are to get the fans excited. They are done with the idea of being fluff pieces and pump the fans up, painting as rosy a picture as possible. They aren't meant to be objective critiques pointing out the weaknesses and problems.
But, I was struck with Dabo's "quiet confidence" during the show. He wasn't acting like a guy who was "pumping sunshine" and trying to tell everybody that DJ is going to become a Heisman Trophy finalist. He gave an honest assessment of the whole team, including DJ. He talked about how good DJ has looked during the off season and practices. And he also included, "Now, he's got to do it when the lights are on. He knows that." He also let it be known that he knows, the coaches know and DJ knows that the QB room is not "DJ and the back ups."
I think the assessment of Richt and Maclain was spot on. 1. This team is going to be real good. The defense is elite, very elite. The offense is better around DJ than it was last year. 2. If the QB play is just adequate, Clemson is the favorite to win the ACC. If the QB play is elite, it is "Lights out. It's over. Nobody can touch them."

Thanks, Bret. I missed it all due to work. That’s the feeling I’ve been getting reading camp reports. The OL should be dramatically better. To me, receivers and QB accuracy are the big question marks for the offense. On D, my only question is about the CB play- can they match or nearly match last year’s play, or will there be a significant fall off.
I expect CB play will be fine, but the 2 question marks on “O” may linger. QB accuracy is not easily improved.

That was spot on and I got the feeling Dabo knows that things are going to be better this year. I noticed that he said that he got on the defense after the first scrimmage.

I really enjoyed the ACC roadshow. FSN used to do something similar a while ago but they would also add in a lot of their favorite restaurants and areas to visit on the campus they visited.

Thanks Bret! Comforting to hear they “see it” (#1 and #2) just like the majority here have been saying for months.

It was a very good show representing our alma mater the right way. Dabo is a straight shooter and you can rely on what he says. The Tiger offense will be as good as the QB allows it to be. The game plan for GT begins now so I’m anxious to see how the three QBs are going to fit into the game plan. Remember this... DJ, Klubick and Hunter all were number one QBs coming out of high school. Not many teams can boast about that. I hope Hunter gets to play some early. He likely could be the guy who helps this team get off to a good start.

Game plan for GT.
They will never admit it, but I'll bet the goal for the GT game is something like this:
1. Offense and defense play well the first half. So well that DJ plays one drive in third quarter and sits down. 2. Cade comes in and plays to about half way through the 4th quarter. He plays well. 3. Hunter comes in and mops up.
I see that as best case scenario.

I wouldn't be surprised if DJ threw for less than 20 attempts and we just lined up and ran the ball down their throat.
Probably the deepest RB room we have ever had with 3 viable starters.
Or Dabo could say we need to throw DJ as much as we can against weaker competition in a "show me what your made of" move but i dont expect that
