ACC has to expand

Does the ACC go after WV even though they don't fit academically? Maybe Oklahoma St. ND of course would be who you would want but not sure that's ever going to happen.

There isn't any expansion that adds value. Just more mouths to feed.

I think if we add a Texas School and Oklahoma State it helps with TV market which equals money.

Only way ACC expansion works is if there are also ejections.

Have to cut some dead wood for an ACC expansion to have any meaning.
ACC will have to get ruthless if it wants to survive.

True, but few eyeballs in a major market is worth way more dollars than lots of eyeballs in small markets.

Which teams do you believe will make the ACC a major player again?
If Clemson gets another opportunity to get out of the ACC and move to the SEC, the Clemson administration better not miss that boat again.
The ACC leadership is constantly being out maneuvered, even by notre dame.

ACC is dead in the water. Trying to expand won’t do anything. I’m almost certain Graham Neff is on top of this and will jump ship to another conference if needed and honestly I see that to be the likely scenario. Adding WV won’t do anything. There’s literally no one we could add to get the ACC up to the money that the SEC and B1G is making.

Notre Dame is the key
Jul 1, 2022, 4:49 PM

If things go to 3 mega conferences and around 60 teams, they determine the fait of the ACC. Add them you add the biggest TV draw nationally.
Then an Okie St., with all their cash. Houston or TCU for a Texas footprint. WV could fit. Could try to poach a Maryland or Penn St. Go crazy and add Arizona and a Cal or Stanford. Geography won't matter much when this is done. I'd look at Kansas, as though not close to football, basketball would still matter.
B1G and SEC both have their TV contracts up after 2023. If the ACC can officially add ND. Then they can renegotiate theirs at the same time. You add the best schools you can get to get to 20 total. The money then evens out between the SEC, B1G and ACC.

I think you are correct. The timing isn't terrible to press Notre Dame hard for membership either. I think their NBC deal runs out in 2-3 years. Still, I do not see ND joining the ACC in football. I think if they do the ACC could survive though. Adding them could help the ACC to renegotiate the TV deal. I think I read where ND averages between 4-5 million viewers for its games. From a TV viewership that's like adding 3-4 "typical" ACC teams. I think ND is about the only addition that would drastically help the ACC renegotiate with ESPN to close the TV revenue gap with the B1G and SEC. It's sad to say, but the ACC's future stability rests in getting ND as a full member.

There is NO expansion that will save the ACC. The only thing out there are leftovers that create no value.
