Absolutely no hitting with runners on base

Don’t remember if I have seen an entire team struggle so badly hitting with runners on base simultaneously like the softball team is currently. Other than Cagle, nobody is getting the job done. If I am an opposing team I am never pitching to Cagle & taking my chances with everybody else. Hard to win with a one person team.

They’re 40-5. The first team to reach 40 wins. Why is “hard to win” even in your complaint that has no truth?

It’s a single game, there have been worst games played in the history of softball.

I guess I should have been more specific about hard to win. I was speaking more about winning against elite teams than just this specific game against NCST. This Clemson team has been really good & I don’t want to take anything away from them but the facts are that they are 0-4 against top ten teams. One against Tenn. & three against FSU with a grand total of 4 runs in those 4 games. If you want to take it to the next level, you have to play better offensively against the elite teams. I am also very proud of them winning 40 games already but you have to be honest with yourself it hasn’t been the greatest schedule in the world. The last I saw their strength of schedule was #79 in the country. I maybe wrong but I believe FSU, Duke & Virginia Tech are all ahead of them on strength of schedule.

And specifically about the NCST lost that is a bad loss no matter how you try to explain it. They had only won 5 ACC games so far & have almost 30 losses. They are scrambling just to be one of the 10 teams to make the ACC tournament.There is a reason their head coach & top assistant were fired in season. Yes it’s only one game but if you want to earn a national seed you can’t lose to bad teams. Regardless what anyone says NCST is not a good team. It comes down do you want to be a very good team or do you want to be an elite team. If you want to be elite someone else needs to step up & give some support to Valerie Cagle.

Who’s complaining! Tell me was anything I said not true. This team is really good. Better than I could have imagined this early in the program. But it is a fact that their 40 wins are boosted by a soft schedule. That doesn’t mean it is not something to be proud of. You just have to play better against better competition. I merely pointed out that they are concerns. You either ignore them or try to address them to get to that next level.

The soft schedule is exposing us. We have played consistent in weeks. Hitting is a big problem for this team. Logoleo had her first hit yesterday since the B/C series. No one except Cagle is squaring up on the ball. Rittman making rookie mistakes. NC state had a 6 ERA to our 1 and still out hit us. Hitting and lack of pitching depth will result in same postseason results as last year unless drastic improvements are made.

It is amazing to me when you try to be objective & just lay down basics facts that may just show they are some things to be concerned about you get labeled a coot. It gets tiresome & is no way to forge any kind real dialogue. Please come up with a new narrative. This one is tired & unoriginal & quite frankly childish. This team is really good. Better than I had hope far this early in the program. They just aren’t elite & that’s okay because I believe they will eventually get there. But, you have to be realistic in your shortcomings & address them before you can take those next steps. Acknowledging that doesn’t make you less of a fan.

The elite teams in softball and baseball always have some sort of slump in their season. Wilhelm and Leggett's best teams all had short slumps at some point. I think they will shake it off soon and they will seize the opportunity this post season against elite teams. I still have plenty of faith they will get to the WS.

I do agree that this rough spot they are going through will make them better in the long run. You need to be playing your best ball as the season concludes. So there is time to work it out & I do believe their best ball is still ahead of them.
