I learned to appreciate the music of Hank Williams, Jr. but that was due to my roommate, not a class per se.

Wow! I agree that it and public speaking were two great courses I took while majoring in CE.
It introduced me to Claire de Lune and the Fifth Symphony.

They need to quit teaching art appreciation, philosophy, literature, and other unneeded courses as requirements. They should instead teach money management, shop, and auto mechanics so dumb***** are let out into the world.

I agree. What you can go with your hands may be the only thing that is valuable in the future. My son is a business major at Clemson today but I have always tried too instill in him the value of learning a trade as well. There is a farm shop class that is required for Ag Mech majors that is good basic hands-on experience for any student. I took it after changing my major from ME. I’ll never forget my instructor, Tom Garrett.

That was a great class and I had Tom as well. I thought I knew how to weld until he showed me up in that class. Good times!

Music Appreciation...

Back in 81, our next door neighbor on Johnstone D-4 left for the weekend with Boxcar Willy's greatest hits playing on his Sound Design turntable. It played over and over until we finally got the RA to shut it down. I did not have an appreciation for Boxcar Willy before, during, or after that episode.

One semester had a roommate who told me on day one he was not going to any classes, just living there. He was from Greenville and a top hand over there at the Corner Pocket. He taught me how to play pool for $$. He was an ace at it - great guy!

Linda Suddeth. Nice green eyes, cashmere sweater, leather skirt and boots, wavy brunette hair.
I think it was an English course she taught, but who cared what it was? One of the few classes I never cut whilst I was at Clemson.
Saddens me to think that she is in her late 60's to early 70's now, wherever she is.

Absolutely Bowling!!!

Bowling was a great class!!! We'd go downtown to the Bookstore or TTT and get loaded, then head to bowling class in the student union. The teacher was the swimming team coach, so he didn't care. After class we'd walk next door to Edgar's for a refreshing beverage. Those were the days.

I took a class called Marriage and Intimate Relations back in 82. Fun class. I was married to this chick we called "the Maneater".

Best course I took at Clemson - Business Writing
Jun 26, 2021, 12:13 AM
|
|
Learned how to write very practical letters, including complaint letters. Used those skills to write a letter to the professor to challenge the grade he gave me (B)---- and he changed my grade to an A. He acknowledged that I was correct, and appreciated seeing that I had learned how to write an effective complaint letter.

Was it with Dr. Lillian Harder? I won’t was that was my best class but I ran into her 15 years after taking the course…she was delightful - My favorite course was Poly Sci 101 - Dr. Woodard. I still keep in contact with him. He was tough as nails…
