Aaron Murray is the best opposing qb @ DV EVAR

Aug 5, 2013, 3:58 PM

He graduated uga more than a year ago and has concentrated completely on leading them to a national championship this season.

He rejected the nfl to come back to uga for one purpose.

He's not a Johnny Football. He does community service and stays completely out of trouble.

He will pass Tim Tebow as the best qb in the sec EVAR. He could rest the second half of every game and still come out on top of career qb stats in the sec.

Accurate, strong, quick release, great footwork, wonderful leader, strong character.

He is a great qb.

One of the best opponents to play in DV.

Murray is excellent, but I'd take Doug Flutie.***

Not to mention Philip Rivers, Matt Ryan and Matt Schaub (among others)

I do not remember Philip Rivers

Aug 5, 2013, 4:17 PM

I do not remember being so excited to go to a night game on Thursday in DV for the first time EVAR. I do not remember that he had children in college.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pat Sullivan, Roman Gabriel, Norman Sneed, and I guess

Aug 5, 2013, 4:17 PM [ in reply to Boomer Esiason and Joe Montana say hello ]

Sonny Jerguson would have played here as well.....just to name a few.

as legend has it... my uncle roomed with roman gabriel @ st.

Aug 5, 2013, 5:58 PM

not sure if it's true, but that is what he's always said. not sure i can trust those woofies, though! although my cousin, his son, did attend clemson, for a semester or two, before being, uh, asked to take his educational endeavors elsewhere! he enjoyed the esso, ttt, etc., just a tad too much.

Ever heard of Joe Montana??

Aug 5, 2013, 4:03 PM

This. Joe Montana is the correct answer. Pat Sullivan probably second.

Not sure if being sarcastic but interesting topic

Aug 5, 2013, 4:04 PM

Off the top of my head, others who would be *above* him on that list?

Chris Weinke
Charlie Ward
Joe Montana
Matt Ryan
(ughh) Phillip Rivers?
Chris Smelley

Matt Ryan Played Tough in DV

Aug 5, 2013, 4:09 PM

Never seen a man hit like he was keep going. Let's hope we can pressure Murray.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I saw Joe Montana at DV and his passing wasn't spectacular

Aug 5, 2013, 4:10 PM

for his entire career including the nfl he would be considered the greatest EVAR at DV.

He scored by running in 2 touchdowns from 1 yard out. If Ken Callicutt hadn't fumbled the ball twice we probably would have won.

Aaron Murray has yet to play in the nfl.

If Aaron Murray is the "best evar", why is his record like 1-10 vs. top 15 teams?

Re: You may be on to something not discussed openly

Aug 5, 2013, 4:26 PM

on espn. This is what I found - 2 wins 7 losses.

Hey what happens on Spring Break in Florida

Aug 5, 2013, 4:34 PM

Stays in Florida except when Social Media is involved.

He was clearly bothered last season at Billy Brice. DV can be LOUDER.

He also gets back his entire ol and both rbs.

I'm hoping our defense can outperform their inexperienced defense in the first game. Otherwise this game is going to be like a wild wild west shootout.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He might not even be in the Top 10

Aug 5, 2013, 4:25 PM

Look at the names above!

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Some other pretty good ones were;

Aug 5, 2013, 4:32 PM

Norm Snead at Wake, Roman Gabriel at NC State, Jack Scarbath at MD, Pat Sullivan at Auburn who won that certain trophy, as did Charlie Ward and Chris Weinke. They don't carry the gaudy numbers of today, but they were all great and fun to watch. Almost forgot Cavanaugh of Pitt and Boomer.

Good old school list, but when was Matt Cavanaugh @ DV?******

My deepest apologies superdawg51

Aug 5, 2013, 4:53 PM

you are sooooo correct. I did mention he graduated more than a year ago.

Plus Richt (the old ex oc) will get angry and fight for Aaron.

They are like father and son there bond is so close.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Charlie Ward would like a word with you

Aug 5, 2013, 5:52 PM

as would Flutie, Montana...

Aug 5, 2013, 6:39 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No Sir. Fran was qb @ uga from '58 to '60.....

Aug 6, 2013, 7:05 AM

and we did not play '56 through '61.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He came back because the NFL DIDNT want him

Aug 5, 2013, 6:40 PM

Even after this year he'll be lucky to be one of the Top 8 QB's selected. No NFL franchise wants some priss pot like him leading their team. He can't take a lick and clown boy is correct, HE IS scared of'm.

If you follow uGAY fb it's hilarious they say he's returned to win a title. You cant win titles starting 0-2 and have a more depleted team from last year. They'll never be on Bama's level and Richt will always underachieve.

Re: Matt Ryan is a top 5 qb according to Espn

Aug 6, 2013, 4:52 AM

Charlie Ward, Michael Vick & Matt Ryan all made a positive impression on me.

I hope Murray doesn't have the same level of success that they had...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Murray surpassed Ryan's passing totals in three years

Aug 6, 2013, 7:12 AM [ in reply to Matt Ryan is a top 5 qb according to Espn ]

compared to Ryan's four year totals. Murray's qb rating and td/int ratio are all greater than Ryan's.

I believe we remember Ryan because of "the hit" and his key passes at the absolute worse time.
