The expert talking heads just can’t ignore when you win a half dozen nattys and continually have the top recruiting class.
Sort of like when a beautiful woman attends a party.... all the guys are going to flock to her.

Even a logical Alabama fan can't take this serious. They can beat duke. Duke ain't Clemson.

Rankings and beating Duke and Georgia Tech means very little. The season starts with A&M who are the big boys on the schedule.

A little bit of context

Before attacking ESPN for their SEC bias (not undeserved), it's important to look at the specific context.
The ESPN pundits and talking heads are still ranking Clemson #1 with Bama #2. Very few of the actual people are putting Bama ahead of us at this point.
The various rating systems whether FPI or S&P+ are a different story. These rankings have nothing to do with people's specific opinions directly—they are based on multiple numerical inputs and output a specific number in their rating system. Ergo, direct bias by the folks at ESPN isn't the reason that Bama moved ahead of us in the FPI. Instead, because FPI is based on several factors including recruiting rankings and returning production, it's easy to see why FPI ranks Bama ahead of us given what we lost on defense and where the recruiting rankings say that Bama is compared to us in recruiting rankings.
One could make a reasonable argument that Bama's recruiting rankings are inflated and that they aren't really substantially better than Clemson, but that is a different argument altogether.
The point is that we can't blame ESPN bias for FPI moving Bama ahead of us when the actual humans at ESPN are still putting Clemson ahead of Bama.

based on ESPiN's recruiting rankings and their evaluations on how the value of player who move on to other college teams, the NFL and life. No, there's no opinion in either of those even though the guys ranking recruits and lossed players are ESPiN employees.

Ok so let's do the analytical math shall we in terms that will be easily understandable even for a coot grad.
1+1=2 Base line for the equations to follow.
Clemson1st quarter 7+7=14 vs Tech
Bama 1st quarter 0+0=0 vs Duke
You can't argue with math people ??

S&P still had Alabama, and even Georgia, rated higher than Clemson at the end of last season.
BC's metrics are good and useful, but like any rating system, they have inherent biases. There are just certain tangible factors involved in team sports (esprit, chemistry, experience, depth and preparation) that are difficult to measure with numbers.
I don't think there's a good way to measure the impact of such things as staff turnover, or Kirby Smart's terrible game management.
All will be well in the end.
