He’s not Tajh, Deshaun or Trevor. I liken him more to the Pitt QB of a couple years ago, or Travis at FSU. He will be dominant in two seasons.

Yeah. Hopefully not four but definitely behind what we expected. Conversion rate in his starts of what 25% in red zone? Won’t win many like that.

he has not had a good start
but his struggle early was the same preseason hype gitter we saw in TL16 so. year.
DW4 was a "sociopath" and was never phased

DW4 is the best qb in our history! He never got shaken. Got to get another with that mental makeup.

Correct. However this is our 2nd in a row. Luck of the draw or are those stars kinda hit and miss?

Our last five star quarterback appears to be kicking ### at his new school. Begs the question, how can this phenomenon not be on poor coaching and development?

If we got Notre Dame DJU every game he would still be in the Dr Pepper commercials as well as Heisman house and we would be where UGA is with back to back titles. DJ would be quarterbacking the panthers instead of his high school rival.
I won’t be surprised if DJ starts circling the drain again.

JT Daniels was a 5* QB that was first loved by USC, and then by UGA.
Just goes to show everyone that recruiting services whiff, and so do coaches from the top programs (including but not limited to Clemson).

bail out a Struggling Trevor Lawrence in the Texas A&M game in 2018.
This was Cade's 2nd start and he has to let the game slow down for him for sure but he is going to be a Heisman Contender before he leaves Clemson (Assuming they get the offensive scheme and WR talent fixed)

If Cade was throwing to Deandre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins, he would be elite.
Truthfully, Tahj had/has a very likable personality, and this made him somewhat of a media darling and a favorite of us Tiger fans. But his success was more a function of who he was throwing to verses his own level of talent.
DW4 and TL6 were definitely elite level talents. But even they had the benefit of elite level receivers to throw it to.
DJ and Cade both have not shared that benefit. DJ hit guys in the hands on multiple occasions. Cade has too. If those are receptions instead of drops and tipped ball interceptions, the stats, results and perceptions would be very different.

DJ also frequently hit guys in the feet. He had guys to throw to in 2021 and was wildly inconsistent. That inconsistency causes hesitation in the receivers. Even when the ball was a strike it’s a lot easier to catch it when you’re not worried about where it’s gonna end up. It’s a catch-22. Part of why our receivers aren’t “elite” is because they’ve spent 2 years being thrown to by a fairly inaccurate qb. At least I didn’t see Cade put a screen pass in the dirt or sail one over anyone’s head Monday.

Cade hasn’t been no where near as bad as people make it seem, once it slows down for him he’s more accurate then possibly any QB we’ve had. When he has time that kid knows how to put the ball on the money.

Surprisingly, Cade has a lot of technique issues, particularly related to footwork. He has happy feet in the pocket, he throws off his back foot, he doesn't get his shoulders square when he is forced out of the pocket and throwing on the run, he floats the deep balls, and he is consistently high on many of his throws.
All of these are correctable with proper coaching, more reps, and time.

Cade and DJ had one thing in common, they were nervy. How they respond is totally opposite. DJ would freeze and Cade seems to rush. DJ would freeze and take a sack or throw the ball so poorly no one could catch it. Cade moves around too much a fires a pass into triple coverage. He looked like he tried too hard to make a play on the goal line on the bad exchange to Shipley. He should have just let Ship lose a yard and run the next play.
Cade has time to work through the jitters and be Tajh Boyd level good (although the WR Corp at the time gave Tajh a lot of confidence). You can already tell he is not Watson or Lawrence. But there is only one or two of those a year in College Football. We had a large enough sample size on DJ to know he was not going to work through it. Unless we played Wake every week, Dude had some good plays against Wake both at home and on the road.

Yes and hopefully that coaching does come. I think it will with Riley but this is two qbs in a row with terrible footwork. Just on different extremes, DJ flat footed like there cemented to the ground. Cade happy feet drifting back.

Cade's biggest problem right now is adrenaline. Everyone says the game needs to be slowed down...I believe Cade needs that adjustment. Too much juice on some of his throws. A calmer pass with some touch would have avoided 2 of those tipped balls. Put a little air under it, lead the receiver to the open spot instead of drilling for oil would benefit him in ways beyond our beliefs

I know we were playing fast, but did it seem to others that maybe Cade needed just an additional second or two BEFORE he snapped the ball?

He doesn't have anyone to throw to except Williams. So it's hard to evaluate a QB when he doesn't have any targets to throw to. If I have one criticism of Cade its that he tends to get happy feet and bail out of the pocket before plays develop. Hopefully, our new OC can fix that.

Cade is overrated. Panics, doesn't see the field well, erratic with throws. Clemson as we know it the last 10 years or so, is long gone in my opinion. Dabo could very well be the culprit.

It wasn’t great. But it is far too soon for any long term analysis of Cade or this offense. I am just as disappointed as anyone with Monday night. But we have no idea yet what this year’s offense can do.

Cade was not handled correctly last season. Trevor looked horrible at Texas A&M his freshman year. Cade is essentially a freshman that has been thrown into the fire.
